Having opened offices in the USA, Latin America and South Africa over the last 2 years, Albany’s presence in Australia now enables us to make a more complete global offering to our clients and contractors. From Perth, Chilip has had diverse experience in recruitment and marketing, and also taught at Curtin University. His interests include tennis and chilling out at cafes over a nice latte and cake. Country Corner – Hong Kong In spite of the turmoil in the credit and financial markets, Hong Kong registered strong growth in the last financial year and is expected to remain robust, albeit a slight slow down. There was a 6.3% increase in real GDP in 2007/2008. A 4% to 5% increase in GDP in real terms is forecast for 2008/2009. The recent budget announcement for 2008/2009 contains attractive propositions for those considering a job posting to Hong Kong. Profits tax rates are reduced by 1%to 16.5% for companies. More significantly , there will be a reduction in standard tax rate by 1% to 15%. This makes Hong Kong one of the most tax efficient tax jurisdiction in AsiaPacific.
