1. New Developments

Yes, we have finally taken the exciting move into Australia in late 2007. Havingopened offices in the USA, Latin America and South Africa over the last 2 years,Albany’s presence in Australia now enables us to make a more complete globaloffering to our clients and contractors.

for Albany Australia. From Perth, Chilip has had diverse experience inrecruitment and marketing, and also taught at Curtin University. His interestsinclude tennis and chilling out at cafes over a nice latte and cake.

2. Country Corner – Hong Kong
In spite of the turmoil in the credit and financial markets, Hong Kong registeredstrong growth in the last financial year and is expected to remain robust, albeita slight slow down. There was a 6.3% increase in real GDP in 2007/2008. A 4%to 5% increase in GDP in real terms is forecast for 2008/2009.
The recent budget announcement for 2008/2009 contains attractivepropositions for those considering a job posting to Hong Kong. Profits tax ratesare reduced by 1%to 16.5% for companies. More significantly, there will be a
reduction in standard tax rate by 1% to 15%. This makes Hong Kong one of themost tax efficient tax jurisdiction in AsiaPacific.

3. Update on 457 Visa – Australia
Albany Australia is acutely aware of the impacts of the 1 October 07 changes tothe 457 visa regime. We are endeavouring to keep abreast of changes andcomply with the legislative changes to enable 457 visa sponsorship wheneverthe new Federal government has taken a clearer position on this issue.
