HUNTING THE ALASKAN BROWN BEAR AT SANDY RIVER LODGE

Sandy River Lodge is located on the lower Alaskan Peninsula in Game Management Unit 9E This area of the peninsula is an excellent producer of large brown bear

We normally have a 90 harvest rate with the bears squaring over 9 feet on the average Several bears are taken each year which are over 10 foot All of our hunts are on a 1 I guide to hunter ratio

The area we hunt covers State Federal and private lands and stretches from the Bristol Bay side of the Alaskan Peninsula to the Pacific Ocean side

With exclusive use of the two Federal areas in this unit and with over thirty years of experience guiding in this remote wilderness area Mel Gillis can offer some of the best brown bear hunting in the world Because of the remoteness of the spike camps they can only be accessed by small aircraft

The airfare between Anchorage and Sandy River (with a stop in King Salmon each way) is approximately $90 on Peninsula Airways To aid in arranging your travel we recommend Lucy at US Travel at (907) 561-2434 ext 0150

We recommend at least a 300 mag rifle License amp tags are available for purshychase at the lodge A list of equipment recommendations will be sent to you upon receipt of deposit
