State Council has identified the following goals for Mid-Winter 2015:

To learn about new and exciting opportunities in 4-H.

To reach out to other youth.

To learn valuable leadership skills.

To help others through community service.

To motivate Senior 4-H’ers to stay active on the local level.

To make the best...better.

Age: Mid-Winter Teen leadership Retreat is for senior (14-18), enrolled 4-H members only. Registration Opens: Monday, December 8, 2014 through 4-HOnline.

Registration: One time, non-refundable payment of $125 per person due with registration. The last day to register through 4-HOnline is Friday, January 16, 2015. Registration is limited to 120 participants (first come… first serve). Online registration instructions coming soon!

Registration covers: 2 nights lodging, meals, supplies & a t-shirt. Agent Expenses: Extension personnel expenses will come from his or her allotted travel account. Dress Code: Youth need to follow the guidelines of the Alabama 4-H Dress Code. Youth may want to bring dinner party attire for the banquet on Saturday night. For the rest of the event, they will need casual or sport clothes. Please encourage them to prepare for cold weather and rain. Each participant MUST bring a pair of tennis shoes (closed-toe shoes). Chaperones: Each county is to send at least one adult agent or a volunteer (age 21 or older) with their county delegation. Volunteer leaders must have been screened and received letters of acceptance as a county volunteer from the county CEC or appropriate 4-H Foundation REA. Forms: Each youth MUST bring a paper copy of the Alabama 4-H Youth Consent Form or complete the online form found in 4-HOnline.

Future Reality Check: Did you ever play the game of “Life” as a child? Soon, we’ll all be playing the real game as an adult. Wouldn’t it be great if you got a practice round? “Reality Check” will offer you that fantastic opportunity! Blasting into the Future: Led by Dr. Tony Cook, “Blasting into the Future” will be a fun and educational workshop where one will learn about rocketry and what the future holds for space travel. Keep it Real: In “Keep it Real:, the 4-Her’s will be learning a line dance called the Virginia Real. It’s fun, fast paced, and easy to learn! The Future of Agriculture: Agriculture has been a way of life for all of time, but in recent years it has transformed tremendously! Come see what the future holds for agriculture! Who Let the Dogs Out?: Many different agencies have begun including man’s best friend in the workforce. Through intriguing demonstrations, we’ll get an exciting explanation of the future of our K-9 friends. What’s in Store?: Do you ever wonder what technology has in store for us in the future? This fun filled workshop will show you the endless possibilities of what’s in store for the technology world.

Dress is casual. Be sure you are in compliance with the Alabama 4-H dress Code.

Saturday morning, you will be doing a lot of moving, so bring tennis shoes (CLOSED TOE SHOES ARE A MUST!) and warm clothing.

Saturday evening we are having a Leadership Banquet. Please feel free to dress as you like, but we do urge you to be in Sunday Dress.

Sunday morning is casual.

Community Service Project: Collect School supplies for local schools. Take photos of your donations and turn them in to your local Extension Office.

*Youth that drive themselves will be required to check in their car keys to Joy Maxwell after they check into their rooms
