    Precautions The monit or may be damaged if placed too near a source of heat. Be aware of the

    location of radiators, cookers, open fires, etc.

    Do not cover the slots and openings on the back or top of the cabinet, as themonitor requires ventilation. The monitor should be located in a well-ventilated

    room to prevent the possibility of overheating.

    Do not allow sharp objects such as knives, pens, or pencils near the screen. If suchobjects touch t he screen, the LCD panel may be permanent ly scratched.

    When cleaning this monitor, disconnect it from the electrical socket to avoid anydanger of electrocut ion. A sof t , lint -free clot h should be used to clean the out side ofthe monitor. A cloth slightly moistened with a mild detergent solution will cleanstubborn stains. Keep l iqu ids away from the display screen, including sprays. Do notspray liquid d irectl y on the monit or it is best t o ligh t ly spray on to a clot h and t hen

    gently wipe the moni tor. If liquid get s inside t he moni to r i t can cause electr ical shockand/or damage to the unit .

    If you encounter a problem, please check the " Troubleshoot ing" section f irst . If t hisdoes not resolve the problem, do not attempt to repair the monitor by yourself.

    Opening or removing covers can lead to injury or death through electrocution orother hazards. Please contact a qualified engineer if the troubleshooting sectiondoes not solve your problem.

    Due to the nature of the fluorescent light , the screen may f licker during ini ti al use. Turn o ff the powerswi tch and then t urn it on again to make the f licker disappear.

    You may find slight ly uneven br ight ness on t he screen depending on the desktop patt ern you use.

    The LCD screen has effective pixels of 99.99% or more. It may include blemishes of 0.01% or less(caused by a missing pixel o r a p ixel t hat is always lit ).

    When t he same image is displayed f or hours on end, it s aft erimage may remain af ter swi tching t o anew image. When this happens, the screen will recover slowly by changing the image. Turning the

    LCD monit or of f for several hours will also correct this problem.

    Installat ion in st ruction sAssembling t he monit or

    1. Posit ion the monit or on top of the base. 2. Connect the base into the neck of the monit or

    along the track.

    Detaching t he monitorIf you need to detach the monit or f or repackaging, the monitor and base must be separated in order to f it

    in t he carton.

    To detach the monitor:1. Unplug t he AC pow er cord t o make sure the power is of f .2. Pull t he 4 hooks on t he bot tom side of the base and hold.

    3. Separate t he monit or and base.

    Important When separat ing t he moni to r and base, find a clean, flat surf ace to place the monit or on and place a clean

    dry cloth under the monitor to protect it further. After removing the monitor from the base, pull themoni tor slight ly up and away from the base and place it on the clot h.

    Adjusting the viewing angleThe viewing angle of t he monit or ranges f rom -5 20.

    Adjusting the viewing angle (Only AL2223W h/AL2223W r)

    Your monit or f eatures a mult i-adjustable stand t hat w ill enable it move 90mm up/down (heightadjustment), 25 degree forward/backward (tilt adjustment), 60 degree side/side (swivel adjustment). Tomake an adjustment, grasp the monit or w ith bot h hands on the right and left edge of t he casing andmove it t o t he desired posit ion.

    Do not perform a pulling or plugging action when the display is under slanting stat us to p revent thedisplay from eject ing.

    Slide the lock to right f rom t he display suppor t f rame as per the figure and then adjust t he height. Notethat to slide the lock to righ t, erect the machine on t he table to prevent t he top part of the display fromejecting.

    Rotate Adjustment (Only AL2223W r):1. Before adjusting t he height , be sure to slide the lock t o right indicated in t he figure. as per Fig. 1.

    2. To rot ate the screen, set t he screen posit ion t o t he highest height , then t ilt the display forw ard to aproper posit ion. as per Fig. 2.

    3. Hold the left and righ t sides of screen wit h both hands and then turn 90 degrees in clockwise direct ion.as per Fig. 3.

    4. Af ter rotat ion is complet e, adjust t he screen height to suit your ow n posit ion. as per Fig. 4.

    5. To return to orig inal posit ion, turn 90 degrees in counter clockwise direct ion . as per Fig. 5.

    6. Af ter rotat ion is complet e, adjust t he screen height to suit your ow n posit ion. as per Fig. 6.

    Connecting the devicesCaution: Make sure that the computer and the monitor are both disconnected from the powersupply.

    1 Power cord Att ach the monitor to the power cord, and then insert the power cord into aproperly grounded electrical socket.

    2 VGA cable Connect the signal cable to the VGA input socket of the monit or, and connect the

    signal cable to the VGA output socket of the graphics card on the computer. Thentight en the thumbscrews on t he connecto r.

    3 DVI-D cable(Optional) Connect the signal cable to t he DVI-D input socket o f the monit or, and connect thesignal cable to the DVI-D output socket of the graphics card on the computer. Thentight en the thumbscrews on t he connecto r.

    4 Audio cable Connect the audio input socket (AUDIO IN) of the LCD moni tor and the computer

    by means of the audio cable.

    WARNING! Check the VGA card o f your comput er. Make sure t he shape of the plug mat ches the shape of

    the socket it is inserted into. Also check t hat none of the pins are bent or o therwise damaged.

    Switching t he powerFirst , sw itch on the hard-sw itch on the backside of monit or, t hen turn on PC and pow er but ton on

    moni to rs cont rol panel. When you see the LED on t he pow er but ton go green, this indicates the computeris ready for use. Allow about 10 seconds fo r t he video signal t o appear. If you do not see the green lighton t he pow er but ton or a video signal, check t he connect ions.

    If the OSD is act ive, press Auto to exit a select ion in t he OSD. If t he OSD isinactive, press Auto and the monitor will automatically optimize theposit ion, focus, and clock of your d isplay.

    2/3 Minus / Plus If the OSD is active, press Minus or Plus to toggle between the OSDoptions. If OSD is inactive, press Minus or Plus to adjust t he volume.

    OSD opt ion sPlease refer t o " External cont rols" on Page 7.To adjust the OSD settings:

    1. Press the Menu but ton to open the OSD menu.2. Use Plus/Minus but tons to toggle between the 10 OSD funct ions (and also t o adjust the cont rols to

    desired levels once a function has been selected).

    3. Press Menu again t o select one of the 10 OSD functions.4. When you have fin ished adjust ing the OSD sett ings, press the Auto but ton to exit t he OSD.OSD menu

    Contrast:This adjusts dark and l ight shades of color relati ve to eachother.

    Brightness:This adjusts the bright ness of the picture on the screen.

    Focus:This removes any horizontal distortion and makes the pictureclear and sharp.

    Clock:If there are any vertical str ipes seen on t he background of thescreen, this renders them less not iceable by minimizing theirsize. It also changes the size of the horizont al screen.

    H-Position:This adjusts the horizontal.

    V-Position:This adjusts the vertical.

    Color adjustment :There are three ways to adjust color:

    Warm (reddish white)Cool (bluish white)User (you can adjust the colors red, green and blue t o t heintensity you desire)

    Language for Asia:Select the OSD menu language. Select from English, German,

    Spanish, Simpl if ied Chinese, Tradit ional Chinese, French,

    Italian, and Japanese.

    Language for EMEA:Select the OSD menu language. Select from English, German,Spanish, Russia, Nederlands, French, Italian, and Finnish.

    OSD Set t ings:This changes the position of the OSD window on t he screen andthe staying t ime.

    Troubleshooting Problem Possib le Solut ions

    Pow er LED is not ON Check to see if the power switch is in the ON position.

    Ensure t hat the Power Cord is connected.

    No picture Check to see if the power switch is in the ON position.

    Ensure that the power cord is connected.

    Ensure t he video cable is securely connected t o the back of the monit orand the computer.

    Move the mouse or press any key on t he keyboard to bring the monit orout of " active off " mode.

    Picture show sinappropriate colors

    See color adjustment (p. 8) to adjust RGB color.

    Picture bounces or awave patt ern is

    present in the pictu re

    Move or switch off electrical devices that may be causing interference.

    Inspect the monit or' s video cable and ensure t hat none of the pins arebent.

    Image is not sized orcentered properly

    Press select /auto key and t he moni tor wi ll aut omat ically opt imize theposit ion o f your display.

    See hor izont al and vertical posit ion adjustment (p. 7).

    Caution: Do not att empt to service or open t he monit or or computer yourself. Please refer allservicing to qualif ied service personnel if the " Troubleshoot ing" secti on cannot solve yourproblems.
