He was very humble to discuss his weak- ness in front of an audience. The best part of his address was the de- scription of the glorious winning moment, the ball bowled by him, during the 1983 world cup. He personally interacted with the parents and also answered their queries. The oath was taken by Drishti Soni student of IGCSE 8 and Niharika Shinde student of IGCSE 7, while the entire school repeated after them. Then Mr. Balvinder Singh, the Chief Guest declared the Sports Meet Open. A grand opening with Aerobic Dance presented by PYP 5 and 6 students was the highlight of the event. Next, the karate display by selected students from PYP 2, 3 and 4 displayed exemplary precision and daredevil tech- niques. The various drills that were put up like Mass Drill, Flag Display by our tiny tots were a pretty sight of colour synchronization, rhythm and team work. Athletic events like Running Races, added to the excite- ment and thrill not only among the students but also among the onlookers. The spirit of true sportsmanship was evident everywhere. The function closed with a Vote of Thanks. Ms. Reshma Khan - Homeroom Teacher PYP 5

SRILANKA-THE SMALL MIRACLE

On 22nd of December, everyone was excited…especially me because it was my first international tour with the school. More than excitement I was a little nervous because I was going to immigrate to another country far away from home without my parents. We all spent our time chatting & speculating how the ex-cursion would be while we were in the bus.

Our Principal Ma’am Ms. Hima Doshi and Ms. Pushpalata Ajit had accompanied us for this trip.

We all know excursions actually help us learn important lessons required to become independent and confident children along with fun. This is exactly what I experi-enced at the airport, when my friends and I had to fill the immigra-tion form and had to handle our own passport till we came back from the trip. Everybody, including the younger ones, was filling their immigrations forms inde-pendently.

Not only did we spend time playing but we also learnt a lot from Sri lanka’s culture.

Most of us wondered that it is such a small country but full of rich cultures! The country is popularly known as the droplet shaped coun-

try which is indeed beautiful.

Just learning about Sri lankas fabulous places and cultures spread warmth and peace around eve-ryone.

Sri lanka has a majority of Buddist people who worship Buddha.

The most special part of the trip, 26th December, was a jolly good day for the birthday boys, Kaushal and me. We were allowed to talk to our parents that morning by our principal ma’am and it

felt great hearing their voice! Our tour operator had arranged a special gift for me and my friend Kaushal and chocolates for all other friends. The tourist guide along with his team had given us a great surprise by decorating the bus with ribbons and balloons.

When I was asked to write a report for this excursion I thought of even putting my friends’ emotions about the whole trip. Harshil had to say that he had enjoyed a lot exploring the country and clicking pictures. Gagan expressed that he enjoyed the trip the most especially in leisure world as he went on many water rides and we were independent through out the trip . Oi-shika feels she became more responsible and got an opportunity to be-

come a leader as she was handling the younger girls in her group . Malika never wants to forget the trip as this has helped her learn to be more responsible for her belongings. Avneet feels she had a good time with Malika & Yuvakshi.

Finally on 27th December, we were off to Mumbai with great memories and a lot of new learning. Already waiting for our next international excursion to come….

EXPERIENCING RICH CULTURE & ROYALTY

As always, AGS thinks the best for its students. And this year’s excursion was nothing different. The destination this time was Jaipur & Ranthambore WOW” was our initial reaction when we heard about the places we were going to visit. We were all dreaming of big palaces, kings, queens and what not. Fi-nally the day arrived and we flew like a bird to this dream city. On reaching Jaipur we could feel the royal warmth of the city. On the way to Rantham-bore we saw many camels and one of the students from PYP-4 Abhishek Ajit actually connected the camel to the ecosystem it belonged to. Now this is what AGS does to its students-we make them life long learners. Ranthambore

is very famous for its wildlife sanctuary especially tigers and we did explore many parts of the place. At one certain spot we all were eagerly waiting for a tiger to appear but none the less his absence was filled with exotic creatures of the jungle like crocodiles, deer etc. The next morning we swung to explore Jaipur city. We were guided by a gentleman who told us that Jaipur, because of the extensive use of pink sandstone for the many public buildings, is named 'Pink City'.

From here we had our next spiritual destination, the beautifully crafted Birla Temple. In the evening we headed to learn about the Sanganeri printing which is famous for its fine hand block printing in subdued and natural colors. We saw a live demonstration of the same. With all the joy and learning we were extremely delighted to visit Chokhi Dhani which means a quintessential village. We all were traditionally welcomed according to Rajashtani culture which was followed by not one, not two

but several authentic and tasty Rajasthani dishes on a typical tradi-tional plate. The impact of their humble tradition was so much that the students for next two days were greeting each other by saying, “RAM RAM”. Our third day went by visiting Amer Fort, City Palace, Albert Hall and Jantar Mantar which made us realize our rich and well crafted Indian minds then and now. It was as if we were reliving an elegant and royal life ourselves. Indeed it was a lifetime experience for all of us especially the stu-dents, who, I’m very confident, have be-

come independent individuals with lifetime self-management skills which will become a by default and ingrained quality of our students with contin-ued exposure every year. Thank you AGS!!!!

BABIES DAY OUT!

On 23rd December 2011, the students from Nursery to PYP -1 had been for a one day picnic to Var-daman Fantasy in Mira Road. We were very excited to explore the new place and enjoy ourselves. We started our journey at 9:00am and together set off from school in our school buses. In the bus we enjoyed a lot as we were singing songs all the way. As soon as we reached we were very enthusi-astic and could not wait to begin the fun. We began our day with some yummy breakfast. After a nice tummy full meal we started off with the fun on rides. We sat on numerous rides like cup n sau-cer, jumping frog, mini train, peddling boat, jumping castle, merry-go-round, etc. At around 1:30 it was lunch time. After lunch we continued our fun with a really amazing and informative tour to see the models of the seven wonders of the world, while the others went for boating.. Then we all got together for a nice magic show where we saw many amazing tricks and had a blast while we played some fun one minute games. When it was time to leave, in spite of being so tired, we wanted to stay for some more time. In fact, some children asked, “Why are we going back so soon?” It was a super fun babies day out!!!

OUR UNIT REFLECTIONS

A friend is someone who fills our lives with beauty, joy, and grace. And makes the whole world we live in a better and happier place. - Jean Kyler McManus We believe in developing caring and responsible young people who help to create a better and peaceful world through mutual respect and understanding. That is what our little champs are doing in their current unit on friends. They imbibe the qualities of being car-ing, compassionate and open-minded to accept others the way they are. During the unit our little stars have got an opportu-nity to develop their social skills by making new friends. The important value which they have learnt was to develop charac-teristics that help to sustain healthy friendship. It was amazing to see our little wonders taking their first step towards making a new world for themselves.

The K 1 family

“Imagination” - a powerful tool for extending our ability to think, create and express ourselves. This was the amazing cen-tral idea as it made the children imagine and create a wonderful show. In this unit the children learnt about the different

procedures and techniques used in presenting a show. They learnt that through imagi-nation we can do many things like creating a story, making a drawing, composing a song, etc. When they found out the various things about imagination, they, on their own, came up with an idea of presenting it through different art forms. Each class had chosen dif-ferent ways to express their creative thinking like the students of K2A put up a musi-cal play, K2B performed a puppet show and K2C performed a Muppet show. The whole program was the brainchild of the students. They chose the topic, wrote the script and dialogues. Even the backdrop was designed and decorated by them. They also composed songs and with the help of Mr. Santosh - our music sir and gave a catchy tune to it. During the making of the show they faced many problems and conflicts which they could resolve through their imagination.

On the final day the children showcased their talents in front of the audience. They performed very confidently and rocked the show. The children really brought imagination to life.

The K2 family It is rightly said, “It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped”. And this unit of decision making helped me to recognize “the” moment, wherein I realized the importance of making the right decision at the right time which directly improved my behavior. One of the most important decisions that I took during my learning in this unit was when my grandparents were unwell. They are old and they needed love, care and time. But at the same time they understood how busy life can be in a city like Mumbai. My parents being doctors would come home late and I would go for my piano classes after school. I used to feel bad for my grandparents and I was thinking how I could help them. The week I learnt about decision making process, I immediately applied it to solve this problem. I had a choice and I chose to be with my grandparents. I left my piano class and told my parents that that I can learn piano all my life but can never get my grandparents love back if I lose them. Today I can see a very good impact it can have in my future and I have realized that I have become a good decision maker in this journey of “Decision making” unit.

Action does not mean bringing a revolution; it is simply making every child independent and responsible. It is always said to us PYP is all about inquiry and action. Many of us might be wondering “How do we expect little children to take action and bring a change?” Action is not all about bringing a change in the society, in fact it is just identifying the life long learning that takes place in a child. Be it maintaining personal hygiene, saving electricity, valuing and respecting every culture, etc. Whenever a child uses her/his knowledge in various situations in real life, it can be considered as Action. Action does not mean bringing a revolution; it is simply making every child independent and

responsible. During our unit on “Role models”, we the members of PYP – 3, collectively thought of writing an email to the real life heroes that we read about. This idea clicked when the children were doing research work, as one of the website men-tioned about the contact details of the role models. We sent an email to Mr. Gyanesh Pandey. To tell you a little more about him, he is the one who left behind his American dreams in order to bring light to villages in Bihar. And we were highly obliged to receive his spontaneous reply. Along with learning about the unit, the students learnt various other things, like:

• Students understood that communication can be done with the outside world by sending email. • They understood the importance of drafting a letter and proof reading it, as it is meant to reach an outsider. • We also now have got the opportunity to write letters and make pen pals. • Students write letters with enthusiasm and always curiously await the response to their email. • They know they can use their skill of letter writing in multiple situations throughout their life.

A field trip is any excursion that students take away from their regular school environment. They provide a variety of benefits to children and to the community. Thus, learning happens in a more hands-on-experience and interactive man-ner than they do in school. Sur-

prisingly, it is a fact that even the little ones of 3 to 4 years old were able to have the enduring understanding through the Field trips which were conducted during their unit on animals. The Central Idea for this unit was “Animals have a place in our lives and we can care for them in many ways.” Our Lines of inquiry covered not only the types of animals but also our responsibility to-wards them. For this, we went for field trips to a number of places, namely: • Vazira Naka where children explored animals around them. • National Park where they learned that even wild animals need care and about the

people who take care of them (care takers) • Sakarbai Animal Hospital where they explored various animals who were sick and get-

ting cured by the veterinarians. Truly, this experience will be registered in their young minds for a lifetime as they have received hands on experience for the same. It is our little effort towards making our children active participants and global citizens with an under-standing of sharing the planet responsibly with other living beings.

FIELD TRIPS

“Transportation systems are directly related to the needs of a community.” was our central idea for unit 4. And when we talk about transportation systems how can we not visit the places where we avail the most popular and commonly used transport system of Mumbai. Yes..!! Our little inquirers went for a field trip to the Borivali Railway Station. It was not that our children had never been to a railway station but visiting the place along with their peers provided a learning experience for them. Buying their own tickets or using the coupon validating ma-chine gave them a feeling of independence and pride. We were also very lucky to have the motormen re-moving some of their precious time to share their experiences and role in this field of transportation and add to our knowledge. Our children also had an opportunity to speak to a few other people which are a part of the transportation system but who never come in the limelight. They also play an important function and they are the passengers and the police officers. Our children spoke to them keeping in mind the concept of function which they had learnt during the course of the unit. Their questions amazed and impressed the passengers and the police officers. Our children put their communication

skills to effective use to conduct hands-on research about the unit to gain more knowledge.

The success of our field trip is not solely owned by PYP 1 but it is shared by all the bhaiyas and didis who accompanied us. And by Hima Ma’am and Varsha Ma’am who gave us the opportunity to explore and satisfy our curious minds.

The PYP 1 family

We all are aware of the bountiful gifts we receive from mother Earth. Well! Our unit on Earth wherein we inquired about its physical features and changes it goes through from time to time, made us truly knowledgeable. We Mumbaikars are blessed with a huge park where people go for various recreational activities. We too decided to go to “Sanjay Gandhi National Park” at Borivali, East to view Earth’s natural terrain. Having Mr.Wakhle, the educational officer for the national park to show us around Kanheri caves, various landforms and water bodies made it look like we had a human encyclopedia with us. The vast land mass with so many examples of mountains, plateaus, streams and lakes gave us a good insight into our unit. Communicators that we are, we asked loads of questions to Mr.Wakhle and satisfied our curious minds. We were truly amazed by the facts told to us about rocks, mountains and water bodies. We were shocked by how pollution and other man made factors are affecting the Earth. The field trip ended in triumph for the PYP2 students for the amount of learning and sharing that hap-pened. Lifelong learners that we are, we have now decided to reflect upon our actions and make a posi-tive change to our planet by conserving it for the future generations. What a fulfilling experience it was!

Ms. Sweedal Colaco - Homeroom Teacher PYP 2 A

The trip to Nehru Science Centre was exciting. Our main objective to go there was to see the “Science Exhibition”. People from different states in India had displayed their models based on science. There were various things such as the corn machine, wheelchair, model on distillation, etc. The corn machine was fabulous! It had 3 generators and there was a cylindrical structure which had lots of nails, which took out the corn from the corn plant. The wheelchair was amazing too. It had 3 extra pairs of wheels than a nor-mal wheelchair. And the speciality of this was that it could be used even on a staircase. There was an-other model on sensor which detects any object that passes over it. We learnt that this could be used in

a war to detect the enemies’ aircraft.

We even saw movies based on Science. It was about the characteristics of different animals in different countries. We saw ex-traordinary places and learnt about their natural environment & how people adjust to those conditions. We even saw a 3D movie based on Dinosaurs which was a bit scary. It showed how long they lived and how they dies because of shortage of plants and trees which were burnt. We even saw the entire Science centre. Overall it was a very exciting and educational field trip. We learnt a lot from it.

The pre-primary, as always, encourages our little ones to stand up and communicate confidently with others. Our ‘Show and Tell’ was just the right opportunity for our little ones to explore their own potential and express themselves in front of others. This event was held on 9th December, 2011 wherein the children had to talk about their favourite animal or toy. The children of Nursery and K-1 were shining like stars during the event which showed the hard work and efforts put in by the parents. The children were not only excited to share about their favourite toy but were also curious to know about others. It was an amazing experience for us to see our children performing so well.

The K1 family

The “Spin- A – Yarn” story telling competition was a platform for the children to develop their imagination and confidence. Children were asked to portray their favourite imaginary character. They came in beautiful and bright clothes, dressed up as different characters like king, Barbie doll, Ben 10, Dora, Santa Claus, Parvati etc.

All the students were excited to express their imagination and displayed the learner profile of being confident communicators while presenting it. This event was a stepping stone for the children as it gave them an opportunity to present their skills.

On November 25th 2011, AGS celebrated ”DEAR Day” i.e. Drop Everything and Read. Reading plays an important role in our life. As Richard Steele has said, “Reading is to the mind, what Exercise is to the body.” The whole AGS Team including our principal ma’am, coordinators, teachers, students and all the other staff members participated in the reading session held on DEAR DAY with great enthusiasm. We started our day by taking Reading Pledge during morning assembly. A bouquet of books having inspiring reading quotes for the children were displayed outside the

resource centre. At the tick of 12:00 noon the whole school kept all their work aside and was engrossed in reading books. The next 30 minutes was a Roller Coaster Ride for everyone in their thirst to learn something more. Even our little angels from Pre-primary, gathered in the A.V. Room with the teachers, enthusiastically listened to the story narrated by Ms. Fatima. We ended the session at 12.30 p.m. sharp. This event definitely helped in inculcating the habit of reading and the feeling of togetherness amongst the kids and adults.

Ms. Poonam Mody—Teacher Librarian

Hello everybody…… Make a guess who we are?

Ahhhhhh! We know you all are confused and are finding it very challenging in identifying us. So let us help you find out. We are the youngest in the Ajmera Global School family. We are the little wonders of Nursery. It was this day, 29th No-vember, 2011 when we all had come dressed as the National animals and birds of different coun-

tries. Not only this, we also shared with our friends the speciality of the animal or bird that we were dressed as. This was a wonderful experience which is still relished by us today.

‘The important thing is not so much that every child should be taught, as that every child should be given the wish to learn’ At AGS, we focus on providing as many educational experiences as possible to help children maximize their opportunities. Children are attracted by puppets and therefore puppets can be effectively used to capture their attention. They are an in-

teresting media for telling stories and songs. Puppet play is open-ended and provides students with opportunities to be supported in situations that are unfamiliar or challenging. They are also a good source to create awareness among children . There are many pedagogical benefits too . The pre-primary teachers along with teachers of PYP-1 , 2 and our music sir conducted a pup-pet show for the blooming buds of AGS. The objective of the pro-gram was to teach the students about the importance of the ‘Diwali Festival’ and preventive measures to be taken while bursting

crackers. The primary teachers explained the importance and ways to celebrate Diwali in a fun-filled and safe manner. Children enjoyed the puppet show and the show was successful in spreading the message too.

Fill the Heart with the oil of love. Place in it the wick of single-pointed mind. Light it with the Knowledge of Truth and remove the darkness of ignorance around you. Just as one lamp can light many lamps; let each youth kindle this Light in many hearts. Thus began the lightening of hearts at AGS during the Diwali celebrations held in the month of October. The much awaited Diwali – festival of lights finally arrived with a bang. Children eagerly looked forward for their Diwali vacation, some to go out with their family on a leisure trip, others looking forward for the Jaipur excursion arranged by the school and some others to simply enjoy the festive time at home.

Students jumbled in coloured clothing added glamour to the festive occasion. The Diwali programme began with a prayer and prayer song. The significance of the five days of Diwali was shared with the children and a quiz was asked on the same. A video was shown to the children to explain them the history of Diwali. Students also enacted a skit and played games creating a joyous atmosphere.

To entertain their friends, some of the students under the guidance of their teachers put up a beautiful dance perform-ance as well. Children enjoyed the rangoli and card making competition a lot. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the programme and promised to celebrate this festival of lights safely and not ‘burn their money’ instead help the needy.

Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow: The year is going, let him go; Ring out the false, ring in the true.

~Alfred, Lord Tennyson It is said that every end has a new beginning and thus began the Christmas celebrations at AGS bringing the glo-

rious year 2011 to an end and simultaneously welcoming the year 2012 with renewed sprits and joy. The event started with a bible reading prayer and prayer song thanking the Almighty for a wonderful year 2011.

The students were then enlightened on the significance of Christmas by Ms. Ami Vasa and Ms. Drishti Soni of IGCSE - 8. The videos based on joy of giving rekindled the hearts of students. Quiz and memory games cheered up the students and enhanced their thinking skills. The dance performance by students of PYP 2 and PYP 4 tuned everyone to the dance party. The spirit of Christmas was illuminated by the carols sung by teachers and students. Santa Claus did hear to the full throated Jingle Bells and made a grand entrance. The event came to an end with new hopes and promises for the forth-coming year 2012.

TEACHERS “TIP-TAP-TOE” ON CHILDREN’S DAY

As we were wrapping up for the day, I could see the joy and tire at the same time on the faces of the ever-enthusiastic teachers as well as staff of Ajmera Global School. Excitement and anticipation to perform in front of the children they love so much, on the occasion of Children’s Day was evident and visible. Everyone who left the A.V. room that evening did not just leave with the longing to come back the next

day but also with a wide smile that ran across their exhausted faces. Regular stay back and re-hearsal for the short skit and dances made it an inevitable success in front of our children who roared and clapped to see their teachers and staff become someone they had never imagined as--- a child. The whole play was based on a regular day at school along with dances and songs interspersed. The day made us teachers go back in time and live one more day at school as a student, something that was just a memory.

DRAWING COMPETETION

On 14th Nov 2011, a state level drawing competition on the topic “Energy Conservation” was conducted by Bureau Of Energy Efficiency (BEE). 50,000 students participated in this competition. 50 finalists were short listed after a series of rigorous levels of challenges based on art. The final competition was held at J.J. school of arts. Ms. Miral Desai from PYP 6 bagged the consolation prize. She says “I was dazed to see so many people appearing for the competition. But I decided to do my best. It was

an amazing experience for me. I learnt a lot about criteria on art. I was extremely happy to have won the prize and my family too rejoiced along with me”. So lets believe we will have more winners in the coming years.

DANCING ALL THE WAY

One fine morning I found Nrityanjali Fest 2012, an open inter-school dance competition on the internet that was con-ducted on a very large scale across Mumbai. As I read through the page I asked myself whether my children were ready for this because not only had they never performed in front of an unfamiliar audience outside school but also it was to be held just a week ahead. But, our children are never to be un-derestimated. I decided to enroll two separate groups from PYP 2 and PYP3/4 in two different age categories. All of them pulled through and they pulled through well. Support of our beloved Principal ma’am, Co-ordinators and par-ents of the children made it possible. Children were asked to stay back after school for those seven days and they all practiced religiously with all their concentration. A little from push time to time and encouragement to make it seem possible was all they required. Choreographies were difficult; showcasing

styles like jive, contemporary and hip hop, and our children lived up to their best. On the day of the show they performed gloriously and made the judges and the alien audiences clap to their moves and shout “Once more!!” Yes, our school chil-dren stood second in this Mumbai wide dance competition. It was a memorable day for all of us when we were called on stage at the Birla Matoshree Sabhagriha to receive the trophy for the winning. We all sang and danced our journey back to the school with a confidence and belief, that there will be more!!

OLYMPIAD

GAUGE YOUR KNOWLEDGE!!!

Science Olympiad Foundation examinations have now become an integral part of Ajmera Global School’s annual events. The popularity has grown im-mensely amongst the students, with the year 2011 – 2012 witnessing the highest registrations ever… An amazing 80!!! The number of Ajmeraities making it to the 2nd level of the examinations is also noteworthy. We have Vihan Gandhi from PYP 1, with a state rank of 301, Vedatman Sonpal from PYP 2, with a state rank of 320 and Tarun Ma-hajan from PYP 3 with an international rank of 439 as the qualifiers to the second level of the 14th National Cyber Olympiad (NCO).

At this point, I would also like to make a special mention of Om Prabhu, who se-cured 40/50, but could not make it to Level 2 as there were less than 10 enroll-ments in his class (He has not only secure 40/50 but also has secured well over and above all those children who have made it to the 2nd level of 14th NSO). So you have every reason to smile Om!!! Once again many many congratulations to all the winners and participants and I am sure the results of the Olympiad will encourage many registrations in the coming year.

I agree that participation is more important than winning, but let’s not make ‘participation’ our only habit. So with this in mind, I am sure we will have greater number of winners. To all the 2nd level qualifiers – wish you all the very best.

Ms. Aparna Gadkari - Homeroom Teacher IGCSE 8 No one denies the importance of English language in the present time as a global language. It is clear that English language has become more dominant around the world. In some countries it is used as the mother tongue and, other countries learn it as second language in their schools. This makes the usage of English language widespread. English is the language of communication between people around the world, as well as, it is the language of modern times. English is also the language of science and technology. An excellent way to stimulate students’ interest in English and to make it live-lier is to organize an English Quiz. English Quiz says: “English is important.”

An English quiz was conducted in the month of October for the students of PYP 3 to IGCSE 9. The students were full of zeal and vigor for the same. The ques-tions were presented in the form of power point presentation in respective classes and each class was divided into various groups. The aim of the competi-tion was to enable the students to use, understand, appreciate, reflect on, and enjoy the English language in a variety of texts and test skills and concepts. The quiz comprised of rapid fire questions covering various aspects of English lan-guage as a whole. All the teams worked hard and exhibited self confidence, con-centration and alertness while answering the questions. They participated whole-

heartedly and are thrilled and excited to be a part of more such events in future.

GUEST SPEAKER

“Amazing Me” That’s what our PYP 6 students explored through their fourth unit of inquiry. The various intricate body systems that coordinate for the amazing functioning of the entire human body was the core of this wonderful Science based unit. The most exciting experience in this unit involved a field trip to the Biology Lab which aroused the curiosity of the kids and also gave them an impetus to make models of various body systems facilitated by the Art teacher “Ms. Manjiri Kamate”. The guest speakers added to their learning experience in this unit. We had Dr. Rashmi

Mascqrenhas, Mother of Jay (PYP 6) and Sneha (PYP 4) who came in as guest speaker for PYP 6 class and spoke about the choices they should make as kids for the proper functioning of each Body system. As these kids are on the threshold of the BIG CHANGE in their lives, an important transitory stage from childhood to

adolescence stage, this unit gave us an opportunity to educate them on the expected changes i.e “PUBERTY” and also ways to cope up with them. We had separate sessions for the boys and girls to help them understand about these changes in a child friendly man-ner and an environment conducive to open discussion and scope for questioning. We also had our students from IGCSE 7 to 9 for these sessions as they are also learn-ing about the Human Body. The session for the boys was conducted by Dr. Ashish Mody who has always been a very supportive parent of our School (Father

of Tanay Mody - K2 & Aarav Mody - PYP 2 B). We had the expertise of Dr. Zinal, a professional expert from the Ayaksha group for our girls as our past experience with her for the Mother Daughter session was a fruitful one. Special thanks to all these guest speakers who have given their valuable time and guidance to our students and equipped them to face the changes ahead with correct and proper education and with ways to tackle their growing up stage.

Ms. Guest Speaker Based On My Unit Mr. Doshi came to our school and shared his memorable but painful experience of migration during India & Pakistan

partition. He told us about the difficult time that he faced while migrating from Pakistan to India. Mr. Doshi lived in Karachi before partition. One day some people came and told his father to leave Pakistan because of the parti-tion and the blood bath. Mr. Doshi’s father decided to migrate from Paki-stan to India, leaving everything behind in Pakistan for the safety of his family. He arrived in India and lived with his relative for 4 years before shifting to Mumbai where he had to learn the local language apart from fac-ing other hardships. Mr. Doshi struggled to start his business. His family suffered during the migration and even later for some years before estab-lishing his own business. Mr. Doshi’s family is now living a

good life in Mumbai. His daughter Ms. Hima Doshi is the honorable prin- cipal of our prestigious Ajmera Global School and we are proud to have her.

WISH FOR CHRISTMAS FROM SANTA

My three wishes from Santa Claus-

Dear Santa,

Its Christmas time and I know that you are eagerly waiting for my wish list.

My wish lists for 2012 are as follows:

My first wish is give me good health for me and my family. As I know that health is wealth. If there is no health than all the wealth will be spent on getting good health.

My second wish is education for all. If everybody in the country is educated then they will be aware of their rights and will not fall prey to corrupt officials and politicians.

My third wish is food for all. If food is available for all then there shall be no criminal activities in the country. Everybody shall live happily.

Dear Santa I know I have been very selfish all these years by asking for toys and chocolates. This year I request you to grant me my wishes so that my family and my fellow countrymen can lead a happy life.

Migration

It’s not an easy task

To leave everything

People have to leave their roots,

To settle somewhere

This is due to attraction,

Wars or natural disaster

It can also be a helpless situation.

In refugee migration

People are forced by push factor,

Are drawn by pull factor

Migration has always been there

And will happen forever

The Way I like To Be

I like to laugh and play with anyone

And love and care for everyone

I would like to be that someone

Who pains and hurts no one.

I love to have lot of fun

To skip and jump and run

I enjoy eating a creamy bun

And would not go near a gun

I would like to be the one

Who carried the heavy ton

Who ran the race and won

And always got the work done!

Ginelle Dias—PYP 5

It’s not Easy, but It isn’t impossible

Don’t be afraid of high hopes

Or plans that seems completely out of reach

I know its difficult,

But it definitely has a lot to teach

You have to pick yourself when you fall

And let the short steps take you long

Don’t take the support of any other

Just close your eyes and think your mother

Sometimes, things just many not happen,

But you don't let them sadden

Keep moving

Till you are succeeding

I know it’s not easy, but it isn’t impossible!

Because he steals from them honey yummy

If a farmer raises crops in summer, what does he raise in monsoon?

An umbrella

What comes once in a minute, twice in a moment and never in thousand years?

The letter ‘M’

I come at night

I keep my eyes open

I fly in the sky

Who am I?

A: I am a Bat

All the kids were very excited to see the animals getting treated same as they are being treated by doctors when they are sick Thanks to all the teachers for giving our children an opportunity to explore and helping them to have practical knowledge.
