    HISTORY OF MOTHER DAIRY

    Mother Dairy comes in to existence in the year 1994 startedmanufacturing commercial product on 19

    thSeptember 1994. It is fully

    computerized unit.

    Mother Dairy was started when they sound that they had lot ofsurplus milk even after selling whatever possible and thus motherdairy was set up to use extra milk. Mother Dairy deals not in milk butalso in various milk products like milk powder, ghee, ice-cream etc.

    The dairy as established behalf of the government of Indiaministry of agriculture. The government however decided that national

    dairy development board (nddb) should managed the dairy. Thusmother dairy from its inception was being managed by the nod.

    In administration department one person is put in charge ofrequirement & selection and large matters are given to visit the marketeveryday and examine the position of the retailers. They also take careto the accounting part they have a very fast system of making theyhave wholesale dealers in all. They put in charge of particularsterritories.

    Co-operative enterprise:-

    Society which has its object the promotion of the economicsinterest of its members in accordance with co-operative principals so,a co-operative society in brief is:(1)Self-help and not dependence,(2)Co-operation and not competition,

    Value addition of milk at different stage

    Clarification :-

    Milk is clarified to remove unseen dirt and dust orforeign material which may be harmful to our body.

    Pasteurization :-

    Milk is pasteurized to kill all pathogens (bacteria)harmful for our body and this process is ensured through automaticcontroller (flow diversion value) which allow only pasteurized totank for packing.

    Consistency:-

    Amul have certified ISO 9002 quality system and

    HAACP (food safety) and they have undergone through. Inspectionaudit surveillance audit .They has also internal quality audit systemfor continuous improvement and effectiveness of corrective action.

    Standardization :-

    Milk is being standardized according to type ofmilk and set standard as per ISO and PFA.Standardized milk ischecked through MILKO SCAN (like body scan) which ensurestandardization of each constituent of milk this type of machine is

    available to amul only in this region. Small player can not havebecause this cost Rs.3000000.

    Bacteriological Laboratory:-

    Amul have well established bacteriologicallaboratory to ensure safe milk supply to valued customer.

    Milk Manufacturing Process

    Milk Reception:-

    From the other dairies raw milk received by the tanker inthis section the tanker of raw milk are checked here for the quality

    of the milk by the qualitycontrol laboratory. Is the milk acceptablecomputer initiating the action for unloading the milk tanker? The

    milk is unloaded pumps is passed through the milk chillers where itstemperature is stored in the raw milk storage silos.

    Milk Processing:-

    There are two lines in this section are is milkpasteurizing & second is milk standardizing in first line milk ispassed through the heat exchange where it is heated to certainproduct temperature milk is taken out of heat exchange passedthrough the centrifuge where fat is adjust to required percentage.The surplus fat is stored for ghee making in stored tanks. And

    pasteurized milk is taken to silos in second line milk is passedthrough milk. The cream is stored for ghee making in storage tanks

    and separated milk is taken to silos.

    Liquid Milk Packing :-

    The standardized and pasteurize milk packing section bypumps and stored in the in the buffer banks from the packingmachine where it is packed in pouches of prt ermined volume milkfilm role are used for packing of milk which are applied by packingfilm projected Gandhinagar.These packed pouches are stored in thecold storage room.

    Ghee Manufacturing Process

    Storage & Heating:-

    The surplus fat come out from the processing section isused here for making ghee the fat is stored in tanks in the from atcream and is heated to the desired temperature by using heatexchange.

    Centrifugation & evaporation :-

    Excess moisture is removed from the cream by usingcentrifuge and the evaporation process.

    Packing Section:-

    The ghee is stored in the ghee storage tanks. It is takento the ghee machines through the balancing tanks. The ghee in the20kg barrels and 5 kg tins and 190kg tins .the packed ghee is storageis the cold storage room.

    Powder Manufacturing Process:-

    Evaporation :-

    The moisture from the milk is evaporation by passingthe milk through series of heat exchanges, which heat milk and removemoisture to large, extend in this section. The concentrated milk is taken tothe drying section of powder plant.

    Spray drying :-

    In this section the milk is sprayed at the top of thespray during chamber.

    And heat air is forced in to that powder from thepowder is collected from the bottom of the chamber and allconveyed pneumatically to the powders storages silos powder

    packing from the powder storage soil milk powder is packed In25kg, bags 1kg, tins or half kg. Plastics pouches depending upon themarket requirement.

    ICE CREAM PRODUCTIONPROCESS

    The world advertising is derived from the Latin word, via,averter. Ad meaning towards or I turn. Literally it meansto turn peoples attention to a specific thing.

    The reason for the unprecedented success of the Amul ads is

    because their simplicity. These ads do not involve any highflying or hi-tech special efforts.

    Mother dairy success lies its excellent advertising in themarket. In the beginning mother dairy was nothing that muchimportant on advertisement but after sometime it understandthat it was to enter in the India market.

    It would advertisement its product, largely in the market so itstandard advertisement its product in different media. Justrecently it has adopted a new massage or slogan that

    amul/mother dairy has made product very popular byadvertisement in all part of India.

    Storage

    Mother dairy is a perishable goods producing industry so it isvery important for it has a good storage facility. Mother dairy hasmilk per day. Which is largest in Asia, milk & other product are

    perishable so there lies a lancer product being perished whilepacking distribution vehicle fully air conditioned. The products arestored in the company under minus temperature.

    Milk Producer ment

    Total milk producement by our member unions during theyear 2005-06 averaged 64.38 lakh kg. (6.4 million Kg.) Per day,representing a growth of 9.3 % over 58.89 lakh kg. (5.9 million Kg.) Perday achieved during 2004-05. The highest produrement as usual wasrecorded during January 2006 at 81.20 lakh kilograms (8.11 millionkg.) we look forward to an even better procurement during the

    current year owing to the expected ingress of narmada waters alongwith normal monsoons. In this context, I take pleasure inannouncing the successful commissioning of a new powder plant atmother dairy.

    Gandhinagar on March 26, 2006. This 100 metric tonne per dayplant is equipped with world-class technology and will be helpfulin processing surplus milk from our unions.

    SALES

    During the year sales of our federation registered a growth of29% to reach RS.3773.55 cores including consignment sales ofRS.39.43 cores. This is a very robust growth rate shown by ourfederation vis--vis the industry average. I am also pleased to notethat our federation has done remarkably well in most of the valueadded consumer packs. Sales of amul milk in pouches increased by31%. UHT milk has grown in value terms by 12% with a 60%

    market shares. Amul ice-cream achieved a sales value growth of18% and has strengthened its position as the un disputed marketleader with 35% market share. Sales of masti dahi grew by 25%.The sales of amul cheese range increased by 18%. Products like AmulMasti Special Butter milk, Flavored milk, Amul Fresh Cream,Panner and Mathematic demonstrated their in the coming few years.

    New products like Amul basudi, stamina, yogi flavored yogurt, coolcaf etc. launched during the year are Expected to do well in thecurrent year while diversifying our portfolio of offerings to theconsumer further.
