The Airbus Defence and Space Mechanical Analysis department is responsible forperforming mechanical and stress analysis that is ultimately validated by hardwaremechanical testing and correlation. You shall be contributing to the success of a wide varietyof space missions that range from the highly scientific space exploration of other planets inthe form of ESA EXOMARS Rover mission, to the intensely competitive provision of globaltelecommunications via the Airbus Defence and Space EUROSTAR 3000 and 3000neofamily of spacecraft. With space hardware design, manufacture and test all covered by thescope of operations of the department and accessible to witness, support and contribute to,developed shall be a wide variety of technical skills in mechanical and structuresengineering, with reference to your domain of mechanical and stress analysis.

Tasks & accountabilities
Main activities will include:
In a spacecraft systems, hardware or components environment, develop anunderstanding of the detailed principles of mechanical and stress analysis andmore broadly of wider design, manufacture and test.
Understand the performance of designed, manufactured and tested hardwarethrough activities including mechanical test prediction, preparation, support andassessment.
Authoring technical documents, in particular reports recording and driving thedesign, development and verification, over the whole or parts of the productlifecycle.
Required skills
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:
Currently studying towards a degree or equivalent qualification in MechanicalEngineering, Aeronautical Engineering or related subject.
An interest in the space industry.
Basic theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles and an ability tolearn required analysis techniques.
Experience of using Microsoft Office Excel for performing and presentingengineering calculations. Knowledge of MATHCAD or MATLAB would be

A basic understanding of the materials, design and construction of mechanicalsolutions.
Ability to work individually and as part of a team.
You must be an undergraduate for the full duration of the internship.
The successful candidate will be subject to UK National Security Clearance in order toundertake related work in accordance with business needs.
