• Barriers to Implementation
PARTICULATE AIR POLLUTION
SOLUTIONS
• Cost effective
• Be effective make a difference with measurable results
• Not take up valuable space
• Not be subject to Planning and Policy issues
Various studies have shown exposure to nature helps in:
Promoting Mental Health:
•Stress recovery
•Attention restoration
•Reduced prevalence of mental
disorder
•Trust, tolerance, participation,
feelings of safety
Green spaces and links also promote
direct physical activity
•Walking
•Cycling
•Running
•Green gyms
Health & Wellbeing
Gas and Aerosol Removal
•Absorbs pollutants:
cleaning the air
•Carbon capture –
takes up CO2
•Gives off oxygen
GI is Multifunctional !sustainable urban drainage
Moderates urban climate
Visual amenity
Shade for adjacent
properties and humans
Gives off O2
Takes-up CO2
Absorbs pollutants Removes dust and
particulates
Increases property
prices
Wildlife habitat
And that is just one tree

Particulate entrapment – on ivy
Conclusions
Removes large quantities of Particulate Pollution
But
We don’t know how much relative to the whole
We don’t know where the particulates are going
Rainfall
Wind
WE SUSPECT
Rainfall has a marked effect
Southside work showed 14million particulates per square meter per day
were removed.
IF
We assume rain removal of particulates ( reproduced in the lab) then this
figure COULD rise to 3184 million particulates per square meter per day

SOME OF THE THINGS WE DON’T KNOW
• How long will it work without a significant reduction in efficiency
• How often will it need cleaning
• What rates of air flow produce the best results
• The configuration of the differing parts to achieve maximum success
VIDEO ANALYTICS
• Count vehicles into their various
classifications (Cars, HGV, Black Cabs,
Vans, Bikes)
• Highlight and manage illegal parking in
real time
VIDEO ANALYTICS
• Provide a full carpark management system which allocates spaces before a journey and starts and charges in real time for parking
• Provide a fully integrated traffic and travel management system
VIDEO ANALYTICS
• Ready to go
• Is not subject to false alarms due to camera jitter or changing light levels
• Can use all existing camera systems and infrastructure
VIDEO ANALYTICS
• Can be applied to security issues
• Can be applied to people
• Identifies and measures behaviour and highlights events in real time
