Most nondestructive tests which rely
on colored or fluorescent materials
to identify discontinuities use the
human eye as the primary detector.
In other words: the inspector needs
to see the indication for the test to
be successful.
There are many factors which go
into making sure the
indication/background contrast is as
high as possible for the most reliable
inspections. Below we provide 3
tips for the inspector to get the
best and most reliable indications:
• Use the right penetrant/mag-
particles for the application
• Always use developer or white
contrast paint
• Make sure your carrier, cleaner,

experienced staff. Amir Hakimi-
Rezaei, or “Amir of all trades”, as we
call him, is an honors graduate in
Electronics Engineering Technology
from Niagara College (2015).
Starting his career in the Gaming
Industry, where he serviced
equipment for casinos across
Canada, he ended up back at Niagara
College as a part time instructor,
teaching courses in Photonics,
Electrical, and Electronics
Engineering programs. In his
spare time he can be found
inside taking on reno-projects
around his newly-purchased
FIRST home or outside hiking
and making trips to the park
with his new German Shepherd
mix puppy. On behalf of the
entire NDT Products team, we
would like to formally welcome
