In 4 sessions you’ll learn what Blockchain means to your organization

“Blockchain causes massive change”. Not only the financial services industry and govern-ments will have to deal with massive changes; also industries such as healthcare, logistics, energy, legal services, music and entertainment are impacted. At the moment, a score of pilot projects is taking place across various industries in both the public and pri-vate sectors. The sheer number of affected business processes and services is a testament to the wide scope of blockchain applications and their relevancy in everyday life.

“Blockchain changes the world again”.

Over the last 25 years, the Internet has changed the world. Blockchain will transform the world again, but only over 10 years. Welcome to Year 1. Internet ena-bled the sharing of information. Blockchain enables the sharing of value, based on distributed ledger technology. While the accessibility remains the same, the reliability of the data increases, resulting in more transparency and better security.

“Blockchain simplifies digital transactions”. Imagine a middleman checking every transaction which takes place online. Making sure everything is in order. Of course, this would not be possible from a cost and practicality perspective. However, if we could somehow automate this exact functionality, we would be on to something! Now we have simplified doing business, because the reliability and the control checks are already implemented into the system, and therefo-re also into the individual transactions. Scores of new business processes, models and opportunities can be developed.

“Blockchain, the blueprint for a new economy”. It’s a new organizational principle: button-up, trans-parent, distributed, operating a widely branched out network of hardware and software. Its distributed characteristics make the potential tangible; costs can go down while performance, reliability and security can increase. No longer is there a single point of failure.

Day 1 : Blockchain fundamentals What is blockchain technology, why is it important, what impact does it have and what is possible? Explanation of the historical context, the concept, and functionality of Blockchain technology. An overview of different types of blockchains, their particular features and pros and cons in relation to different fields of applications (introducing the “Blockchain decision table”).

Day 2 : Blockchain Use cases The application of Blockchain in various domains (in both the public as well as the private sector) and the impact on indus-tries and regulation. Examination of use cases which provides in-sight into the application of Blockchain tech-nology in your own organization. Business processes, business models and organiza-tional structures are changing due to digital disruption. We provide a model to evaluate the application of Blockchain technology (introducing the “business heat map”).

Day 3 : Applying Blockchain metho-dology and technology How ‘do I make a Blockchain’? How and where can I deploy this in my organizati-on? Op interactieve manier reiken we een In an interactive way we’ll reach a metho-dology which allows us to identify, define and prototype use cases. Subsequently, we’ll dive deeper into the functionality of the technology by developing a case in greater detail using the BECON Blockchain stack.

Day 4 : Implementing Blockchain Prototyping smart contracts, and the DOs and DON’Ts of implementing Block-chain technology The BECON Blockchain stack is highly user-friendly when it comes to prototyping business processes and smart contracts. Participants are able to practice and explore what’s possible. In additional, we’ll discuss factors that contribute to a successful imple-mentation of Blockchain technology.

Objectives Upon completion of the Masterclass, the participants possess a good grasp on what Blockchain and the related subjects entail. By creating Blockchain examples using the BECON Blockchain technology stack, participants develop a very good idea of what is possible (and not possible) when it comes to deploying this technology in their own organizations. Upon completion of the Masterclass, the participants receive a Certificate.

ContentsEach Masterclass consists of four sessions, presented from 3.00 pm – 8.00 pm over four days.
