Welcome New Members of Jain Center
1. Mehta, Sarjak and Reena Vora 2. Shah, Bharat and Hemanta
President, JCSC
Jai Jinendra, Firstly, I would like to congratulate all of our Sangh members for a successful celebration of Paryushan and Daslakshna mahaparv. I invite you to join me in doing ANUMODANA of all the Tapsvis for their “Tapashcharya” during Paryushan and Daslakshana. Our community members did a great job during daily evening “Bhavna.” It was amazing to see members as young as 5 year old singing during Bhavna. Our Jain Youth dazzled us during the Bhavna performed by young members as well. Every day with great devotion, our members did “Aangi,” which
illustrates just how committed our members are to not only our center but our religion. Thank you to the entire Aangi team members for their contribution and hard work. Lastly but most importantly, we thank Shri Hiteshbhai Shah and Shri Shekharchandji Jain for their excellent discourses during these mahaparv celebrations, which helped us guide our spiritual journey and practice.
Our members participated well in accepting and celebrating arrival of new silver Trigadu and Chhatras. I thank you all for your generous contributions. Without your generosity we would not have been able to collect more than $200,000 in pledges and gheeboli.during Paryushan. On the day of the children’s program, our keynote speaker Nipunbhai Mehta enticed everyone including teenage and adult members, and he mesmerized every one with his message of community service and generosity. We should carry on Nipunbhai’s message of community service by committing our time to provide services to our center. Seva is another way of helping others, which is part of our religion. Each and every member of our center should be serving on at least one committee, and we have several committees that individuals can pick from. I urge you to participate, be empowered and take ownership of our center by serving our center in whichever way you choose. Speaking from personal experience, there is no greater satisfaction that can be derived than from committing one’s self and rendering one’s services to an organization or center like ours. I am happy to inform you all that on August 9th we collected more than $85,000 for the Uttarakhand disaster relief. We are sending these funds to three different organizations in India to help victims of the Uttarakhand disaster rebuild their lives and their communities. JAYA hosted a picnic on September 22, and the turnout was wonderful. Many young Jains came out to enjoy and support their fellow JAYA committee members. I encourage all young Jains to participate and support JAYA activities. Lastly, we have arranged for Rina and Seema Mehta to perform a JAIN Katha program on Sunday, October 20, 2013, at our center. I encourage you all to come to this spectacular event, as it will be an artistic experience you will not want to miss. Respectfully, Dr. Jayesh Shah, President,JCSC
Navpadji Ayambil Oli (Thursday Oct 10 to Friday Oct 18, 2013)
We observe festival of Navpadji Oli that lasts for nine days, twice a year. Both Navpadji Olis falls among five Shashwata Athai of Jains. Jains perform Ayambil Taps for nine days to salute nine supreme posts in universe.
The Nav (9) Pads are:
Arihant, Siddha, Acharya, Upadhyaya, Sadhu, Samyak-Darshan, Gyan, Charitra and Tap. As symbolized in Siddha Chakra, each day there will be vidhi of each post in Derasar. Ayambil Tap - Eating food once in one sitting. The food contains only cereals and pulses (not sprouted) and is boiled or cooked without any spices, milk, yogurt, ghee, oil/oil seeds, sugar, green/raw vegetables, fruits or their by-products.
Ayambil oli will be celebrated with full religious fervor from Thursday Oct 10th to FridayOct 18, 2013 at the Jain Center.
There will be Navpadji Puja on Oct 12th Saturday, 2013 with Nakro of $51 for each of the nine Pujas.
Ayambil Oli is Sponsored by
Pushpa Mangal Parivar – Kalol, Ramila & Harshad Shah-Mumbai, Jagruti & Kalpesh, Rinku & Alpesh and Sejal & Sachin Parivar.
We need volunteers to help prepare the food, serving, cleaning etc. Please write your names on the signup sheets at the temple, either for doing Ayambil or for volunteer or both or contact :

Diwali Program at Jain Center (Friday Nov. 1 – Monday Nov. 4 2013)
Diwali is one single festival in the world which is celebrated on exactly the same day by different
religions and faiths for various reasons specific to that religion. Jains celebrate Diwali to celebrate the
Nirvana Of Bhagwan Mahavir. We will celebrate Diwali at Jain Center as per the program below:
Gyan Panchmi Program (Thursday Nov. 7, 2013)
Gyan Panchmi is celebrated 5 days after Diwali and is also known as Laabh Panchmi.
It is the day of appreciating acquired/collected knowledge in every form and holy books. A lot of
people also observe fast by keeping silence. This is the auspicious day for those who want to start
Panchmi With Fasting.
This year Gyan Panchmi is on Thursday, November 7th, 2013. We will have Gyan Pujan and Gautam Swami Sthapana at the Derasar at 9:30 AM for anyone who wishes to perform puja. Dev Vandan will follow after puja in Aradhana Hall.
General Body Meeting – Sun Nov 17, 2013
We will have General Body Meeting from 11:00 AM in the Cultural Hall. Following is the agenda for the meeting:
Nomination Committee Report for BOD & EC Positions
Volunteers and EC/BOD members recognition
Paryushan Report
President's Report
Other business
The meeting will be followed by Swamivatsalya Lunch. The General Body Meeting is for all members and is a platform where you can meet the entire EC & BOD at one place and provide your suggestions / comments or get any questions answered. So, please mark your calendars and make sure to attend this important meeting.
Kartiki Poonam & Pat Darshan (17th November,2013,Sunday)
Kartiki Poonam night is considered as the brightest full moon night in the whole year as the rainy season
is supposed to end and the night sky is all clear. This is a day to resolve to free oneself of basic instincts. In the rainy/monsoon seasons, all Acharya Bhagvants, Sadhus, Sadhvis, Munis etc. stay at one place and do not travel for four months. This starts from Ashadh Sud Chaturdashi and ends on Kartik Sud Poonam. After Kartik Poonam, their vihar starts again to spread the knowledge of Principles of Jainism such as Truth, Ahimsa, compassion etc. Thus, Kartiki Poonam has a big significance for all Jains. We are going to have Kartiki Poonam Celebration as below

Life Time / Annual Tithi Program
We have received a very good response to the Tithi Program. It allows all members to select a day (Or days) in a year (or Lifetime) when they can do all religious rituals that happen in our temple for the entire day. The rituals include Pakshalji, Ashtprakari Puja, Aarti and Mangal Divo. Multiple families can also participate and ask for a tithi. There are approximately 340 tithis during the year excluding certain tithis when we have Jain Center functions.
Each tithi is available for $101 per member family for one year or for $2,501 for Life Time.
For Life Time Tithi, your name will be posted on board and newsletter. You can keep a photograph of your loved one for that day for paying tribute, well wishes or recognition.
For people who have already submitted their names for this program and also for people who want to signup, please email the completed form to Dr Mahendra Shah [email protected].
