About Cheaper By The Dozen

Cheaper by the Dozen is a biographical novel written by Frank Bunker Gilbreth, Jr. and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey that tells the story of time and motion study and efficiency experts Frank Bunker Gilbreth and Lillian Moller Gilbreth, and their twelve children. The book focuses on the many years the family resided in Montclair, New Jersey. It was adapted to film by Twentieth Century Fox in 1950.

The title comes from one of Frank Sr.’s favorite jokes: it often happened that when he and his family were out driving and stopped at a red light, a pedestrian would ask, “Hey, Mister! How come you got so many kids?” Gilbreth would pretend to ponder the question carefully, and then, just as the light turned green, would say, “Well, they come cheaper by the dozen, you know,” and drive off.

There will be a 15 minute intermisssion. Please join us for refreshments in the lobby.

We love local theaterand we love local farms, but most of all we love

Zuckerman’s barn!

Congratulations tothe cast and crew of

Charlotte’s Web!

Julianne Brosnan Lillian GilbrethJulianne has been involved in theater in the Mt Washington Valley and beyond for the past 6 years. There have been large roles and small, characters both whimsical and steely, but her

favorites to date are Kate Keller, The Miracle Worker and, now, Lillian Gilbreth. Both of these women were intelligent and strong and held a love for family that, in their own ways, made the impossible, possible. Julianne is humbled to play the role of Lillian Gilbreth, who has been called the “Mother of Modern Management”, a “genius of the art of living” and one of the first “superwomen” to combine a career with her home life so successfully. Julianne is proud to be working with such an outstanding cast encompassing seasoned veterans and brave newcomers. Many great laughs have been had along the way! Thanks given to Glenn and the board of AIM for their dedication to bringing lively productions to the stage. Special thanks to her husband and children for always helping to make the crazy schedule work. “My love to you, Andrew!” Jen Meers Miss Brill

Jen Meers previously appeared in Seussical, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and Peter Pan. When not driving to rehearsals and sporting events she lives in Freedom and works

as an office manager/graphic artist for a rare coin company. Thanks to Glenn for once again offering local kids the opportunity to be part of a quality theater production.

John Paiva Frank Gilbreth, Sr.If you’re reading this, thanks for coming out to support Arts In Motion. This is my second time in a play as an adult, the first role being George in It’s A Wonderful Life. Thanks to my wife,

daughter, mom and dad for always encouraging me to be myself and to try anything. “Be sure to look for the next auditions and you can be part of this wonderful experience! Thanks Glenn!”

Rebekah Bushey Mrs. FitzgeraldRebekah is no stranger to the stage or Arts in Motion. She has appeared in several plays with them over the years and has enjoyed the experiences. When not on stage, Rebekah is hard at work

as a secretary at The Robert Frost Charter School. Rebekah will graduate from Granite State College in June with her Associates in Science. If anyone who knows her thinks she is obsessing over an assignment or a grade; she is simply fueling her dream of attending Columbia University’s Teachers School in about 3 years time. She dedicates this show to her father who left 2 children shy of a dozen the day he died of a heart attack. “Dad this one is for you!”

Kodi Barrows LarryThis has been a fun production for Kodi working with the talented cast. He is very proud of everyone and the effort they have put forth. He really enjoyed helping build the set and designing

the lights and sound. This is his 5th year with Arts in Motion. Enjoy the show!
