What is our purpose?

"To educate all students to meet high academic standards and to prepare all students to be responsible citizens in a

complex, changing world."

But what are we doing?• We are providing services and modifications for students who have a

defined academic need.• These services are mandated by the state. • Our local plan, reviewed and revised every three years, is based on

specific guidelines set by the state.

DEPs

• Say how we are addressing the needs of our gifted learners

• List the learning environment options. Your child may receive one or more depending on the situation at his or her school.

• Describe content modifications and instructional strategies that will be used to address the students’ academic needs

• Track student identification, other modifications, and accommodations for students identified as accelerated.

Here at GMS…

• Gifted students are clustered on teams. This means they are placed in the classroom with other gifted learners.

• We use flexible grouping and address needs based on data.• We now have an AIG Facilitator, Rebekah Davis, who can

help you with AIG related issues and concerns. We share her with Broadview Middle.

• The AIG Facilitator meets with teachers as a group and individually to provide support for lessons and strategies.

• We have DEPs ready for you to sign tonight! If you have questions that are more in-depth than a quick chat will cover, please indicate your need for a conference on the sign-in sheet.
