AIEEE/IIT JEE 2012 Patterns After the 2012 AIEEE and IIT JEE, both the exams have under gone a major make over. The exams have been brought under a single umbrella named, Joint Entrance Examination(JEE). The revised JEE will have 2 tiers - the first one is JEE MAIN(erstwhile AIEEE) and the second tier is JEE ADVANCED(IIT JEE previously). Till 2012, XII board marks merely had a role as one of the eligibility criteria. But from 2013, XII Board marks are set to play a decisive role in the final merit list of both JEE MAIN and JEE ADVANCED. Support and Model Exams for BITSAT.JEE Main EligibilityA candidate must have passed in final examination of 10+2 (Class XII) or its equivalent qualifying examination. Those appearing in 10+2 (Class XII) final or equivalent examination in 2013 may also appear inJEE MAIN2013 provisionally.

Candidates who are aspirants for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs , IITs and ISM Dhanbad - for one or more than one of them - must confirm to the eligibility criteria of the relevant institutions.

Candidates are allowed maximium of 3 consecutive attempts.

ForJEE MAIN2013, candidates who passed +2 exam in 2011 or2012 or appearing in +2 in 2013 are only eligible to appear.

The relevant qualifying examinations are :i. The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi

ii. Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University.

iii. Final Examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy.

iv. Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.

v. H.S.C. Vocational Examination.

vi. A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

vii. 3 or 4-year diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

JEE Main PatternFor Paper 1(B.E/B.Tech courses), it is in both off and online modes.

For Paper 2(B.Arch/B.Planning),it is in offline mode only.

Objective type questions with equal weightage to Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics

Four options with single correct answer

Negative marking - for each incorrect response, one fourth (1/4) of the total marks allotted to the question would be deducted.No response will mean no deduction of marks

Eligibility For JEE ADVANCED 2013

You might be aware that the candidates aspiring to join the IITs have to first clear the JEE Main examination. Only top 1,50,000 candidates (including all reservations) based on the performance in the JEE Main examination will be considered as qualified to appear for the JEE Advanced examination.

Note thatONLY the scores in the JEE Main examination will be consideredfor the listing of the candidates andNO tie-break mechanismwill be implemented. This immediately implies that the number of candidates qualifying to appear for the JEE Advanced might be slightly higher than the intended 1,50,000 as there could be more than one candidate at the same score.

The various categories from which the candidates are selected are as given below: 50.5% from the Common Merit List (CML). This is approximately accounts for 75,750 candidates of General Merit. Note that some of the reserved category candidates may also be included in this list. 27% from the OBC-NCL Merit List. About 40,500 candidates of the OBC-NCL fall into this.

15% and 7.5% from the SC and ST Merit Lists respectively will call for 22,500 candidates from the SC category and 11,250 candidates from the ST category.

Persons with Disability (PwD) will form 3% of each of the above given Merit lists.

The candidates belonging to reserved categories but appear in the Common Merit List will NOT be included in their respective category lists.

Academic Eligibility for JEE ADVANCED 2013

The IIT Council has clearly spelt out the eligibility criteria for students who have given their XII Boards in 2012,for those who are writing betterment in 2013 and for those who are writing their XII boards for the first time in 2013 and for foreign nationals.

For Students who Passed Their Class XII Board Exam in 2012:

The eligibility criteria for joining any of the IITs or ISM Dhanbad will be60% marksin their 12th Board or equivalent (55% for SC/ST/PD candidates).

For Students Who Passed their Class XII Board Exam in 2012 But are Reappearing the Boards in 2013 to Improve their Performance:

1.60% rule will apply if they use their 2012 Board exam results2.Top 20 percentile' rule will apply if they use their 2013 Board exam results.This will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only.

For Students Who Give their Class XII Board Exams for First Time in 2013:

It is 'top 20 percentile of the successful candidates' in their Boards, category-wise. This will be a one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only.

For Students Where Percentile Score is Not Available From Testing Agencies:

In case the percentile score is not available from testing agencies [such as Pre-University exam conducted by a University, two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy, General Certificate Education examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka), High School Certificate Examination of Cambridge University, International Baccalaureate Diploma (Geneva), Senior Secondary School Examination of National Institute of Open Schooling, three year Diploma recognized by AICTE / State Board of Technical Education and any Public School/Board/University examination in India or in any foreign country recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)] ,the CBSE score for top 20 percentile of the successful candidates in the student's category will be used.

For Foreign Nationals:

The eligibility criteria based on the qualifying examination shall be 60% aggregate marks.

Schedule of Exam and Paper Pattern:Date of the Exam : 2nd June,2013, OFF LINE MODE only

PAPER 1 - 9am to 12 am

PAPER 2 - 14pm - 17 pm

PAPER PATTERN:

Each paper

1. is objective in nature2.will have separate sections for Physics,Chemistry and Mathematics3.will test comprehension,reasoning and analytical ability of candidates4.may have sections where incorrect answers will attract negative marking

The answer sheet will be a two-sheet carbonless paper - the upper one is the ORS. The correct answer(s) has/have to be marked by darkening the bubble(s) using black point pen only on the upper sheet.The lower sheet can be taken by the student with the invigilator's permission.

Number of Attempts:

Registration and Fee Details of JEE ADVANCED:

Eligible candidates have to register online athttp://jeeadv.iitd.ac.in.

Fee Details:

Rs.1800/- general categoryRs.900/- for SC, ST, PDNo fee for all female candidatesFor candidates appearing from Dubai centre, the fees will be US$ 200

The requisite fee has to be deposited between8th and 13th May, 2013in any branch of State Bank of India having Core Banking Services.

The last date to register for JEE ADVANCED 2013 is13th May,2013

Process of Payment of Registration Fees:

To pay the registration fees for JEE (Advanced) - 2013, a candidate needs to follow the following steps:1. Fill up the online registration form completely.2. On completion of registration process the bank payment challan will be generated.

3. Print the generated challan.

4. Make the payment against the generated challan at any branch of State Bank of Indian (SBI) having Core Banking Solution (CBS).

5. Get the counterpart of the challan endorsed by the bank.

6. Send through speed post the photocopy of the challan along with the necessary documents viz.

i. Class X mark sheet (if DoB is not mentioned in it then you have to send a DoB certificate)

ii. Class XII mark sheet if available; otherwise the declaration form mentioning that you will submit the mark list before 30th Sep 2013 (Monday)

iii. caste certificate as applicable;

iv. PD certificate as applicable and send all of them to the zonal IIT under which you have registered.

STATUS OF REGISTRATION:

The status regarding the registration, including the receipt of payment, will be available on the JEE (Advanced) - 2013 website where the candidate had registered. If the receipt of it is not indicated within 72 hours of the payment, then you should contact JEE (Advanced) - 2013 office at IIT Delhi for clarification.

ADMIT CARD

For the JEE (Advanced) - 2013 examination,nohard copy of the admit card will be issued by any of the IITs.

Each candidate needs to download his/her admit card from the corresponding JEE (Advanced) - 2013 websites.

To download his/her admit card the candidate needs to enter his/her

(i) JEE (Main) - 2013 registration number and(ii) Date of Birth (DoB) (dd/mm/yyyy). The admit card can be downloaded from16th May 2013(Thursday)onwards. Urls of JEE websites for the respective IITs are given below:
