Aiding the rescue, education, and advocacy for exotic cats
Overview: Carolina Tiger Rescue’s main mission is to save and protect wild cats in captivity and in the wild. They have three main areas of focus: rescue, education, and advocacy. The organization brings in cats from private individuals who have realized that wild animals do not make good pets. They work to educate the public through tours and community presentations. Finally there are involved in educating groups and business about the use of wild animals as entertainment and try to steer them away from doing so.
Day-to-day: Students will be going to the Tiger Rescue Center each day to preform service work. Projects are assigned to groups based on needs of the organization at the time they arrive. A light construction project can be expected, but participants will need to be flexible as this is subject to change. Students will be working outdoors.
The Nitty-Gritty Details: Participants will need to pay close attention to the instructions on what to pack due to the poison ivy, ants, and mud. Students will work rain or shine, so pay attention to the weather close to your trip dates. Participants will have a small budget for groceries and a group activity for the week.
