Records of the New Orleans Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA founded 1857;
New Orleans Chapter founded 1910). Included are membership rosters, correspondence of
officers, publications, photographic prints used in the 1959 AIA publication A Guide to
Architecture of New Orleans, 1699-1959, by Samuel Wilson, Jr., and negatives of copy

photographs used for a 1957 AIA exhibit “A Century of Architecture in New Orleans”, sponsored
by the chapter in celebration of the centennial of the AIA on the occasion of its annual meeting,
held that year in New Orleans.
PROVENANCE
Early records were given by the New Orleans Chapter of the AIA to Tulane in the late 1950s, early
1960s. A latter group of records was given by them in the mid-1970s and another in 1987.
