Part of the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, Mount Batur and its double calderas form a crescent-shaped volcanic lake (7 km long, 1.5 km wide) located 1,031 m above sea level. This magnificent natural structure is renowned as one of the world’s finest caldera. Experience the unforgettable magic of the sun rising behind the silhouette of Bali’s sacred Mt Agung mountain and take in the unique geology of the area. In addition to their spellbinding natural beauty, the Batur and Agung volcanoes have a deep significance to the people and culture of Bali.

What you will doThe experience starts with a very early morning (2 AM) pickup by our guide at your hotel in South Bali. Drive towards the adventure camp, located in mountainous Kintamani and arrive approximately 2 hours later. Switch vehicles and climb aboard one of the 4WD off-road jeeps, escorted by an experienced SUV driver who is also a certified member of Mountain Batur Guide Association. Your hiking journey begins from the Expedition Bali Adventure Camp, escorted by a highly trained hiking specialist. We recommend wearing comfortable hiking shoes and a jacket, as the location is about 1,500 metres above sea level. Witness the majestic sunrise with the backdrop of the active volcano Mount Agung; a sight that you surely will not forget. Hike down for a light breakfast then continue your journey to a natural hot spring where you can bathe and relax your sore muscles. Picnic lunch is served, then after swimming in the warm natural hot spring you will be transferred back to the adventure camp, where your minivan awaits. Your adventure is complemented with a visit to Batur Global Geopark to discover more about the story and geology of Mount Batur, as well as other volcanoes in the archipelago. Transfer back to your hotel in South Bali, en-route visit the holy spring at the sacred Tirta Empul Temple located in Tampak Siring.
