Agua Hedionda Lagoon Carlsbad, California A Celebration of Natives In 2008, The Acorn Group created the interpretive master plan for the Agua Hedionda Discovery Center—a 2,250 square foot center located at the upper end of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon, one of Southern California’s last remaining, intact coastal wetlands. Anchored by a spectacular tile mosaic floor map that depicts the Agua Hedionda Watershed, each exhibit cluster reveals one aspect related to the functioning and health of watersheds. Visitors, young and older alike, are beckoned by the sounds and sights of wetland wildlife, the “water column of life,” the artifacts from the lagoon’s human history, Pleistocene fossils, and other tactile and interactive displays. In addition, The Acorn Group worked with Brian Burton Design to create a series of interpretive panels for the Discovery Center’s native plant garden.

Agua Hedionda LagoonCarlsbad, California

A Celebration of Natives

In 2008, The Acorn Group created the interpretive master plan for the Agua Hedionda Discovery Center—a 2,250 square foot center located at the upper end of the Agua Hedionda Lagoon, one of Southern California’s last remaining, intact coastal wetlands.
