Dear Student Do you want to be part of the global agricultural revolution? With a changing climate and rising population, improvements to sustainable agriculture are vital to ensuring global food security for the future. Scientists, engineers, bio-informaticians and agronomists are leading the way in this creative and challenging field. Do you have the interest, ability and passion to be part of this pioneering work? Careers in agricultural technology are extremely diverse - from working on robotics and precision agriculture, sustainable energy, environmental science to genetics, human nutrition, functional foods, pharmaceuticals and synthetic biology. Specialists work together to provide sustainable solutions for global problems. To provide an introduction to this exciting world of agricultural science and technology several leading organisations in East Anglia have got together to create a two day event to help Year 12 students understand the opportunities available and help to make informed decisions about relevant university courses. We’re now looking for bright, passionate and interested 6th form students from Norfolk and Suffolk to take part in this unique event. The Agri-tech taster course takes place on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th July 2016 at the John Innes Centre, Norwich Research Park and also at nearby Easton and Otley College. Through a series of exciting lectures, engaging discussions and interactive sessions you’ll have access to world leading researchers and their facilities. Successful participants in this free course will learn about the cutting edge research and business opportunities occurring in agricultural technology that will shape the world of the future. This event provides a terrific opportunity for any sixth form scientists, who are considering taking their studies to university level, to explore options for the future. To apply, please complete the attached form. To find out more about last year’s event and to watch a short film please visit the RNAA website or use the following link http://rnaa.org.uk/agri-tech-taster-sessions-for-year-12s/. Please note that places are limited and the application deadline is Friday 13th May 2016. For any enquiries please contact Kate Ibbetson-Price, Agritech Taster Course Coordinator.
