lear specifications for case IH engi-neersBased on this up-to-date application profile, the new farmall U pro was

developed completely from the ground up in St. Valentin. With the farmall U pro, case IH presents a new all-round tractor that from the beginning has been developed to meet changed requirements for a versatile tractor to perform transport jobs, around-the-farm tasks and heavy tillage, as well as harvesting work.

power comes courtesy of the latest engine technology. a 3.4 litre high pressure common rail engine with electronic fuel injection deliv-ers powerful outputs and constant power be-tween 1900 to 2200 engine rpm with minimal fuel consumption while complying with current emissions standards.

Three models in the new series will be avail-able, with engine power outputs of 95, 105 and 115hp.

comprehensive equipment now standard In addition to the latest engine technology, the new farmall U pro also sets new standards in terms of equipment. The transmission has been developed in a joint project with Zf and fea-tures innovative details in this tractor class.

for the first time in a case IH tractor of this class, a 32+32 Eco gearbox is used with four-speed powershift. a maximum speed of 40 kph is achieved in Eco mode at reduced engine rpm, making a considerable contribution to fuel sav-ings.

The farmall U pro is also equipped as stand-ard with a four-speed pTo with 1,900 rpm Eco speed – ideal for fuel-saving operation of pTo powered machinery such as balers while still

Farmall U Pro Efficient Power. The New Custom-made All-rounder

benefiting from full power.New cab design: more operator comfort

The new premium cab is a farmall U pro hall-mark. from outside the tractor is immediate-ly recognisable thanks to its innovative roof design. a high visibility window is integrat-ed directly into the front section of the roof, merging with the front windscreen. as a result it offers an almost seamless view of the front loader work area.

Efficient power concept Inside the cab the case IH engineers have implemented the proven Efficient power operator concept, built around the Multicontroller transmission lever. all the main functions required for daily work can be operated using this newly-developed controller, including rear hitch, power shuttle and power clutch, plus electronic remote valves. Mechanical remote valves are standard with the option of mechanically-controlled mid-mount valves for loader operation. as an additional option, a newly-developed joystick can be used to conveniently control all electro-hydraulic functions with a high level of precision. This layout sets new standards, particularly in front loader operation.

The innovative new design ensures the cab remains cool in warm weather and provides op-timum soundproofing. There’s a revised climate control package, with all air inlets no higher than the dashboard to provide pleasant and draft-free ventilation.

robust design Based on the research, case IH engineers in St. Valentin

created an extremely robust rear 3-point hitch. The farmall U pro is therefore ideally equipped to handle modern mounted equipment’s higher weights and widths. a powerful pfc hydraulic system with separate oil tank delivers an oil flow rate of up to 100 litres per minute.

The new design has also produced a very low centre of gravity, which considerably improves operation in rough terrain and increases safety, especially in hilly terrain.

The tractors’ front hitch area has also been designed with the linkage integrated into the tractor frame to be fully compatible with front loader operation. all farmall U pro models can be factory-installed with the brackets and hy-draulic connections for front loader attachment.

The new farmall U pro has been developed and is manufactured at the case IH St. Valentin plant in austria, where all technical training for the product also takes place.

NEWS...New smart system for front loaders

esigned to make repetitive tasks easier and more accurate, a new return to position (rTp) option is now available for use on selected H Series front loaders fitted to John Deere6r Se-ries tractors.

rTp automatically returns the front loader and its attachment to a choice of four preset positions, covering two boom heights and two attachment angles. It is compatible with H340, H360 and H380 non self-levelling (NSl) and mechanical self-levelling (MSl) loaders, de-pending on the model. lift capacities of these loaders range from 1800 to 2150kg and lift heights from 4.1 to 4.5m.

With this option, the tractor uses the integrated commandcenter display, which is standard on 6r Series models, and must be equipped with electronic independent control valves (E-IcVs) and an electrically operated joystick control. The loader is fitted with two sensors to detect the loader height and attachment angle. a complete loading cycle can be accomplished with just four clicks of the joystick, thus increasing pro-ductivity and reducing operator stress.

a new rTp loader will be shown alongside John Deere’s latest 6M Se-ries tractors on the company’s stand at laMMa 2013 in January, to-gether with displays on the new DirectDrive tractor transmission and Harvestlab constituent sensing on 7080 Series self-propelled forage har-vesters.

D‘It’s a pig of a job, but Kubota’s RTV 900 can do it!’

T here are numer-ous ways to test an all-terrain

vehicle, but a true test of performance, reliability and versatility is to use one on an outdoor pig unit. Just ask farm Man-ager David finkle. The Kubota rTV900 he used when managing the celeb-rity ‘Jimmy’s farm’ spent much of its time wallowing in axle deep muck.

“I thought the Kubota rTV was a real class act,” says Mr finkle who has since moved on to a new farming project. “The Kubota was used in all manner of ways around the farm and on the pig unit was the key means of getting straw out to the pigs in all weathers.”

adding that the machine could carry six to eight conventional bales on its load platform, Mr finkle says the rTV transmission really impressed him. No matter how hard he worked the machine it never once got stuck, even when fully loaded and working through the sort of muck only those who have worked with outdoor pig units can really appreciate.

“The rTV900 is a properly engineered piece of equipment that seemed to get better the more it was loaded up,” he says. “I even used it to drag a big tandem axle trailer around at times and it just shrugged it off. of equal importance, the rTV was 100% reliable.”

adding that the vehicle was driven by a range of operators, many of whom were not familiar with working in demanding off-road conditions, Mr finkle says safety was a key priority. Not only did the rTV prove ex-tremely stable, with the added security of seat belts and a roll cage, it was easy for novice drivers to drive safely too.

“as soon as you take your foot off the accelerator the rTV slows to a stop,” he says. “I found I could carefully train someone to drive the vehicle safely and not worry that I would in any way compromise the farm’s risk assessment. The rTV proved utterly fool proof, rugged and dependable.”

Whilst on the farm, Mr finkle also used a Kubota M7040 tractor with a loader. like the rTV900 this proved a durable tool with stand out econo-my, manoeuvrability and visibility. again a range of less experienced op-erators used the tractor and they all got on with the tractor well, finding hitching up trailers, thanks to the visibility to the hitch, simple.

“The Kubota M7040 is the ideal stock tractor,” he adds. “The engine has lots of torque at tick over and this makes it a great loader tractor. It is not overly heavy either, so is ideal for top-dressing, rolling and mowing. It was an impressive tool.”

Mr finkle, who used to work as a prototype development driver for caT, spent some time looking over the build of both the rTV900 and M7040. He says the way the machines were built really impressed him.

The international jury of agricultural experts were particularly impressed by the cutting-edge safety features, which enhance operator safety with a zero-tools approach, whilst maintaining best-in-class outputs. furthermore, the BigBal-er is just the latest product in the renewed, pro-fessional hay and forage product line up, which features the updated fr range of forage harvest-ers and the new roll Baler, high density, fixed chamber round baler. The BigBaler is produced at New Holland’s global centre of Harvesting Excellence, in Zedelgem, Belgium, where it benefits from the world’s most advanced harvesting expertise. The facility, which recently gained the World class Manufacturing bronze level, is home to both product management and development teams together with the testing and manufac-turing departments; this fully integrated model ensures close collaboration and continual dia-logue to guarantee the peerless competitive-ness, functionality and quality of the BigBaler. Zedelgem is also home to the flagship rotary cr and conventional cX combines, as well as the renowned range of fr forage harvesters.

The BigBaler range was designed with safety in mind, as New Holland knows that safety is fundamental, and that when operators are un-der pressure to bring the crop home in prime condition, short cuts can be fatal. furthermore, these advanced safety systems have been engi-neered by design to be tool free for swift, hassle free access.

a unique safety system has been developed so that the front shield can only be opened when the baler is completely stationary: when the pTo has been deactivated and when the fly-wheel brake has been engaged. only when these conditions have been met, can the operator un-latch the front shield, using a dedicated lever.

Side doors are opened in absolute safety, and operator strain is reduced, as opening is assist-ed by powerful gas struts, which also support the side shields when they are open. operator safety has been further enhanced, as there is no access to any moving components via the twine boxes. The super flat service platform on top of the baler makes working at height even safer, especially when combined with the grab rails. a dedicated needle-locking device is conven-iently situated near the rear-access ladder and prevents access to the knotting system unless

the lock has been engaged.Industry leading productivity, efficiency and

throughput: up to 110 bales/hourThe BigBaler range has further raised the

benchmark in the large square baling sector, and it has become the default choice for professional baling operations, biomass contractors and pow-er generation businesses. as the most productive large square baler in the segment, the BigBaler can produce up to 110 bales/hour, for unsur-passed throughput.

The MaxiSweep™ pickup ensures constant, smooth feeding of an even greater volume of crop, and has contributed to up to a 20% capacity increase. Bale density has been further improved by up to 5% courtesy of the enhanced pre-com-pression chamber which benefits from advanced Smartfill™ technology, which uses a network of sensors to guide the operator to maintain even flake formation for uniformly dense bales.

advanced plM solutions such as active-Weigh™ on-the-go bale weighing technology, can be recorded together with moisture content, date and time and the bale’s GpS location to cre-ate precise yield and field mapping data, so that inputs can be fine-tuned to increase productivity and profitability for future seasons.

The significant throughput and quality advan-tages of the BigBaler have been further recog-nised with a prestigious aE50 award, conferred by the american Society of agricultural and Biological Engineers. The BigBaler range was re-garded as one of the fifty most innovative prod-uct ideas to enter the market in 2012.

LAMMA Show 2013 continues to set growth records

GENEral...

ularity has meant that, over recent years, the character of the Show has evolved from being predomi-nantly focused on arable machin-ery, parts and workshop equip-ment, to one which now includes a wide range of horticultural, amenity and livestock equipment, as well as ‘green energy’ products, seed suppliers, agro-chemical and farm management and financial advisory services. In addition, a number of companies specialis-ing in re-cycling and construction equipment will be an attraction to both re-cycling and construction professionals, as well as farmers seeking ideas for diversification projects. In addition, a large num-ber of companies will be announc-ing new products at the Show.

as far as visitors are concerned, the growing diversity of exhibits has attracted visitors from all re-gions of the UK and a number of trade representatives from across

Europe and as far afield as India, china and australia are expected to visit the Show.

The ever increasing popularity of the laMMa Show indicates that it is now placed high on the list of favourite exhibition events for professionals in the agricultural and associated industries. We look forward to welcoming our regular visitors and, of course, we extend an especially cordial invitation to those who have yet to enjoy the laMMa experience.

as an added incentive to ‘ear-ly-birds’ making for the Show, the car parks will open at 6.00am and visitors arriving between 6.30 and 8.00am will be able to enjoy a full English breakfast at a discounted price. additionally, the Show will officially open at 7.30am on both days.

as in previous years, both ad-mission to the Show and car park-ing are free of charge.

The ever-increasing popularity of the LAMMA Show amongst the UK farming community and increasingly those from other parts of the world, has in the past few years led to a tremendous increase in both visitor and exhibitor numbers.

or laMMa 2013 over 800 exhibitors have booked stand space for the event

which will take place on 16th & 17th January 2013, at the Newark Showground, on the lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire border.

from the outset the primary aim of the laMMa Show was to offer a low-cost shop window for small manufacturers to display their products. More than 30 years later, this is still the case and the success of this policy is evident from the large number of small companies, from all parts of the country, tak-ing part. combine this fact with the presence of all the major play-ers in the farm machinery, equip-ment and services sectors, and it becomes evident why so many farming decision-makers, from all parts of the UK and from further afield, view the laMMa Show as an important date for their diaries.

ENGINEDesigned without electronics and additional fuel admixtures, the factory engines of ZETOR dominate over competition through simple service and high level of reliability. They feature a good deal of torque margin (over 35 %), which reduces the need of advance gear shifting. Engine output remains constant within a wide range of rpm speeds.GEARBOXThe tractor is equipped with a fully synchronized four-gear transmission system with three reduced gears and a reverse gear. Number of gears is 12 + 12. In case of PTO, there is a choice between the 540/1000 or 540/540E types.HYDRAULICSThe Major Model makes use of hydraulics with mechanical control. It features not only high lifting force, but also a smooth regulation of startups, including the hydraulic lock function while tools are being transported. CABINComfortable in view of practical applications. Enough space and ergonomic design of controls make the working with tractor easier.

aDISoN, WIScoNSIN – BouMat ic, a global leader in the design,

manufacture and supply of highquality milking systems and dairy equip-ment, is pleased to announce the launch of its full range of BlueMaX teat dips.

“our BlueMaX family of teat dip prod-ucts are among the dairy industry’s strong-est weapons in the fight against masti-tis-causing bacteria,” said Hugues legrand, associate Hygiene Brand Manager.

Dairy experts agree that healthy teat skin is an essential part of overall teat and udder health. our BlueMaX range of 5 products offers a full answer to the dairy farmer’s needs in teat dipping before and after milk-ing” he adds.

The BlueMaX family consists of 5 teat dipping products: premium (pre and post dip), Xtrem (post-dip), Barrier (protec-tion between milkings) and two pre-dip-ping products Bclean and Dcontrol. Each product has beneficial characteristics and comes in various application options such as foaming, dipping or spraying.

This allows the dairy farmer to choose the product that suits his particular farm conditions the best. one thing that sets the BlueMaX products apart from the com-

petition is the chlorine Dioxide ready-to-use formula, it doesn’t need to be mixed before use. The BlueMaX premium and BlueMaX Xtrem are well known for their all-in-one formula which reduces cost, in-creases efficiency and offers the germ-kil ing results that the dairy farmer demands.

“BlueMaX teat dips are packed with emollients – the special skin conditioning ingredients that keep teats smooth and soft and replace natural oils lost through disin-fection and milking.

Each BlueMaX Teat Dips uses a com-bination of 3 types of emollients for the healthiest teat skin. first, the humectants absorb air moisture and transfer it to the teat skin. Second, the occlusive agents pre-vent water from evaporating off of the skin. finally, the moisturizers add water directly from the emollient to the skin.

combining the properties of these three types of emollients into one BlueMaX teat dip provides more effective teat skin condi-tioning than any single emollient can deliv-er on its own.” legrand explains.

“In the end our goal is to strive for healthy dairy cows and quality milk” he concludes. “We want to help the dairyfarmer to grow his profitability with the

best products for his particular farm”, leg-rand concludes.

all of the BlueMaX family products are suitable for organic farming. The teat dips are available through the BouMatic dealer network.

BouMatic is a leader in the development of innovative products for dairy operators throughout the world ranging from cow traffic systems, milk harvest equipment, automation and management systems, milk cooling systems, dairy hygiene and sanitation technologies.

NEW MACHINERY & OFFERS...

The current manual shift systems normally use a foot gear lever, or occasionally a button operated electric shifter, where the rider selects the nal gear ratio. Whereas the fully automatic system, as the name suggests, does all the work for you and once on the move there are no gear changes to distract the rider. The automatic systems utilise CVT arrangements – Constant Velocity Transmission – which use a belt drive arrangement to transfer the power from the engine via a variable pulley wheel system, that eectively continually changes the gear ratio, to the nal drive. On an ATV there are a number of benets associated with using a CVT system and certainly over a long day in the saddle you will notice the reduced fatigue of not having to constantly select the correct

Buying an ATV but can’t decide on which one?Is an Automatic or a Manual ATV better for me?Choosing the right ATV for your use can be a daunting prospect with so many models available on the market. Some of your basic requirements might be easy to identify like the towing capacity of any given model or the rack load carrying capacity.

gear. Eectively the CVT system ensures that you are always “in the right gear” and no matter what the terrain it will always ensure that you have instant power available to climb out of ruts or bogs. This is even more useful if you are towing a heavy loaded trailer or need to alter course suddenly uphill or over an obstacle.Several ATV manufacturers utilise CVT technology on their models but from an engineering perspective its Yamaha’s advanced Ultramatic system that really stands out. Yamaha have tted an automatic centrifugal clutch which maintains belt tension and virtually eliminates belt wear whilst ensuring super smooth drive. In addition a clever sprag clutch tted on the crankshaft engages on downhill descents when the throttle is closed, eectively linking the drive wheels directly to the engine to provide full downhill

engine braking – all of which is highly eective especially in 4WD mode.So now that you have narrowed it down to choosing an ATV with the advantages of fully automatic trans-mission, you need to hunt around for the nearest authorised dealership and the best deal. And at this point the Yamaha name crops up again. Not only is Yamaha the number one ATV manufacturer in Europe but right now they are running and incredibly generous nance scheme with 0% and Low rate options. Add these purchasing benets to their outstanding Two Year Warranty program and their enviable reputa-tion for durability and reliability and its pretty obvious why the Yamaha Grizzly looks to be the best of the bunch. But don’t delay too long as their nance oer ends at the end of the year.
