PresentationGoiás is such a privileged state where lies abundance of arable
land that, supported by technology, is capable of producing all sort of products – from grains and seeds to fruits and forests. We have pasture, cattle, a diversity of herds, and especially, we have hardworking people who raise animals, plant crops, cultivate and harvest the food for our people, for the country and for the world.
In this vein, having selected data that can show an outline of the entire agricultural production not only shows the strength of the sector, but allows us to understand the dynamics of production in the state. In health field, a diagnosis allows to solve problems and improve the quality of life, while in the agricultural activity, an overview of the sector such as this one, may be able to guide public policies, repair asymmetries and promote actions in which the impacts would turn into the enhancement of regional development, economic growth, job creation and income generation. More than that, it is also a tool for decision-making for farmers, cooperatives, investors and entrepreneurs – inside and outside the farm gate.
In this way, Goiás Agriculture Overview, a Government of Goiás publication, provided by the State Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, fills a gap that previously existed with qualified information about the sector in the state. It brings clippings from the main agricultural databases and present to the society what our agribusiness means.
Comprising a diversity of parameters, the publication shows the scenario of agricultural production in the state, including data on the Gross Value of Production (GVP), in addition to characteristics of the producing farms, rural infrastructure, family farming, agro-industry, plant production, fruits, forestry and animal production. They are precious and relevant information for everyone, from a sector that is present in the daily lives of our population and is the mainstay of our economy.
