AIMS OVERVIEW Agribusiness Investment for Market Stimulation (AIMS) is a five-year initiative of Global Communities to expand trade in key agricultural sectors in Kenya, Tanzania and Malawi through market and trade stimulation. Since its inception in 2014, AIMS stimulates market and trade by investing and building capacity of small- and medium- agribusiness enterprises (SME). AIMS is supported by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. A key focus of AIMS is expanding bank lending to SMEs in agribusinesses through a $50 million loan guaranty facility (LGF) backed by the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) of the U.S. Government, and building the capacity of banks to lend to agribusinesses through enhanced skills and better products. AIMS also works with business development service providers to build the capacity of agribusinesses and improve their access to regional markets through enhanced buy-seller linkages and access to market information. EXPECTED OUTCOMES FROM AIMS INCLUDE: Increased bank loans to agribusiness SMEs Increased trade volumes Expanded buyer-seller networks New contracts in new markets Networks of business service providers AIMS OBJECTIVES OBJECTIVE 1: Increase bank lending to agribusinesses. PARTNERSAIMS works with the Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) to expand outreach to private and institutional operators. EAGC is a non-profit, non-political, membership-based organization that supports and promotes structured grain trade with the Eastern and Southern Africa region. EAGC represents the three main sectors of the grain value chain including traders, farmers and processors.

AIMS also works with other actors to effect sustainable change both in the target countries and in the region including:

• Business Development Service providers

• Market information services providers

• Apex associations

• County and national governments

• Other donor-supported development programs
