ABOUT SAKAL INTERNATIONAL LEARNING CENTRE

Sakal International Learning Centre (SILC) is the education vertical of the 8-decade old, trusted Sakal Media Group. Launched with the objective of building leaders for transformational change, SILC's focus is on providing a contemporary and practical learning environment to students, equipping them to emerge winners in an ever changing and challenging milieu.

Guided by Shri. Prataprao Pawar and Shri Abhijit Pawar and headed by Dr. Apoorva Palkar, an eminent educationist of Maharashtra, the programmes at SILC are designed to build entrepreneurs and leaders who will go on to have a strong social impact on the regional economic development. With faculty drawn from industry as well as academia, learning a t SILC melds together real time experiences with academic knowledge bridging the gap between a conventional academic program and one that sets students up for success. Learning a t SILC emphasizes practical knowledge along with the academic, bringing together real life business ideas and activities with academic knowledge.

WHY ABM?

ABM

Globalization, information technology, infrastructure and internet have created avenues and opportunities for all. It has also created the need for new and specialized skills, to be acquired in a relatively short time period. Agri business management grooms young men and women into professional managers for core areas of agribusiness and allied sectors. The ABM program is designed as a management program covering functional areas of management with conceptual and quantitative inputs of agriculture. It is intended to develop an integrated perspective of the primary managerial functions and give the student a foundation for pursuing managerial responsibilities as well as agri-entrepreneurship.

SILC's Post Graduate Programme in Agri Business Management is a unique programme for enterprising students who intend to shape their career. What makes this programme so unique is its design. The content of the programme comes from the successful entrepreneurs and professionals from the field of agriculture, export, dairy management and food processing. In addition, the delivery of this content is done by the experienced professionals from these fields. The course content, variety and diversity of the teaching faculties & the practical industry exposure to the students through various student enrichment programmes makes this entire programme relevant to current industry demands.

EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS DEVELOPEMENT PROGRAM:

Employability skills are those skills necessary for getting, keeping and being successful in a job. Employability skills are vital to secure that dream job.

SILC aims at providing 80 man hours of training to the students so that they become placement ready. They are trained on skills like communication- written as well as spoken, soft skills, presentation skills and IT Skills.

INTERNSHIP:

The objective of Internship is to give students the opportunity to apply his knowledge in real world environment. In this Agri Business Management course, a student is exposed to a two week intensive internship programme which provides industry experience and equips him with necessary skills to become a better manager.

RURAL IMMERSIONS PROGRAMME - Field Research Project (FRP):

Rural Immersion Programme is a unique initiative that was instituted with an objective to sensitize the budding managers and entrepreneurs of this Institute towards the various schemes undertaken by the government in villages and to study and analyze their execution and effectiveness. Spread over a week, the programme’ s main objective was provide insights into the various dimensions of district level administration, focusing primarily on the policy administration and the execution gaps, while dispelling several stereotypes associated with the rural population at large.

The field visits programs provide an opportunity to apply previous knowledge, view real examples set in a worldly framework, and opportunity to be involved, physically, with real situations in the field. All of this promotes a deeper understanding of the subject being studied and an improved ability to recall the information and experiences, later, as needed. The students get to see the practical application of the knowledge which they were imparted with.
