Just like a chameleon that

can change its appearance

to suit its environment, the

AGP Fineline-XT operable

louvre system enables a

building to balance the

needs of the occupants

with the outside world.

The AGP Fineline-XT operable glass louvre system

is a revolution in frameless glass louvre technology,

providing an elegant frameless design that doesn’t

compromise the practical requirements of a sealed

louvre system. These characteristics have made

AGP Fineline-XT a popular choice for architects

designing buildings where controlled natural air

flow and ventilation are important considerations.

Continually looking at ways to improve their

operable facades, AGP has taken the Fineline

Series louvres and designed additional weather

protection features to provide a system better

suited for protection from inclement weather.

Inherent in all frameless glass louvre systems

is the challenge of creating a suitable louvre

blade seal. As long as the system is to remain

frameless the effectiveness of the seal will

always be a compromise.

Developed over many years the AGP Fineline-XT

Series is, in our opinion, the best possible

balance of form and function, being as close

to weatherproof as can be achieved with

frameless glass louvres.

The system utilises specially designed vertical

aluminium mullions to house the operating

mechanism, keeping the system clean and

uncluttered, adding to its elegant appearance.

The louvre blades, generally composed of 12mm

toughened glass, seal vertically by closing onto

bulb seals running the full length of the mullions.

Horizontal weather protection between each

louvre blade is achieved by fitting a bulb seal

to the bottom edge of each louvre blade.

By achieving a weather seal in a frameless louvre

design, the AGP Fineline-XT system is suitable

for a variety of commercial applications.

Offering the largest frameless glass louvre panels available on the

market today, AGP Operable Glass Louvres are not only functional

but also aesthetically appealing.

Every Fineline-XT operable glass louvre

system is custom designed and built to

the specific requirements of the application.

With the potential to be custom built to suit most modern

facade designs and the additional weather protection

provided by a sealed system, the Fineline-XT series operable

glass louvre system is suitable for use in a variety of internal

and external applications.

The ability to open large sections of a wall on demand

makes this system an effective solution to meeting building

code and improving user comfort. The ability to quickly

ventilate smoke from an enclosed space during a fire

emergency, provide natural air flow for normally indoor

areas, picture left, and to ventilate cigarette smoke from

bars and nightclubs, are all positive and practical benefits.

Potential Applications

Internal Office Building Screens

The operable glass louvres can be

installed as internal partitions with

the louvre control system integrated

with the building management system.

In the event of a fire emergency some

louvres will automatically close while

others automatically open to allow for

the smoke extraction system to operate

effectively throughout different floors

of the building. Other applications

including allowing for natural

ventilation for environmentally

friendly ‘green’ buildings.

Office Building Facades

The operable glass louvres can be

custom designed to fit in with the style

and modular sizes of most commercial

office building facades. An example of

this application is 82 Waterloo Road,

North Ryde where special winter gardens

were established in the office space with

operable glass louvres to provide natural

ventilation when desired. These louvres

were faceted to integrate in with the

buildings curved curtain wall facade.

Public Bar Facades / Restaurants

To provide greater flexibility by allowing

outdoor entertaining spaces to be used

all year round, operable glass louvres

are an ideal product for use in public

bars and entertainment facilities. With

stricter restrictions on smoking in indoor

entertaining areas, operable glass louvres

can provide the flexibility for publicans to

allow smokers to use these spaces with

the opened louvres providing excellent

ventilation and natural air flow.

When interior architects working

on the QV1 building for BHP Billiton,

wanted to solve the problem of

cross ventilation through the various

floors and winter garden spaces,

they chose AGP operable glass lou-

vres to provide the perfect solution.

The louvre blades are designed to close outside

of the vertical aluminium mullions which are fitted

with special seals to give an air and water seal

to the glass. The bottom edges are also capped

with bulb seals to provide an edge seal between

the louvres. This provides a system that is able

to meet the fire engineer’s requirements for air

leakage and to create a smoke seal which was

an important requirement for the building.

The louvre control systems are integrated with

the building management system so that in

the event of a fire emergency some louvres

will automatically close while others automatically

open to allow the smoke extraction system

to operate effectively and efficiently throughout

the 12 floors that BHP occupies.
