11:00 Driving a Revolution: Game Changing Investments in Advanced Manufacturing at the Department of Energy

Innovation is driving a revolution in manufacturing, and the U.S. Department of Energy has led the way in developing and implementing energy-related technologies that have impacted manufacturing innovation for the nation and made the U.S.

manufacturing sector more competitive. This includes workforce development programs, the Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative, and most notably, large public-private investments like the manufacturing innovation institutes through the Manufacturing USA partnership. This session will give an overview of investments to date as well as a look forward to exciting new partnerships on the horizon.

11:15 Accelerating Towards a Future Sustainable Energy System

This session will feature a moderated conversation on the future competitiveness of the nation’s advanced energy infrastructure, including new public-private partnerships as exemplified by Exelon’s affiliation with Argonne National Laboratory. Argonne also manages the Joint Center for Energy Storage and Research, a partnership between government, academic and industrial researchers aimed at developing the next generation of battery and energy storage technologies to enable the grid of the future.
