WELCOME TO GRA’S 2016 GROUNDWATER CONFERENCE AND 25TH ANNUAL MEETING!

The Groundwater Resources Association of California (GRA) welcomes you to our 2016 Groundwater Conference and 25th Annual Meeting! For 25 years, GRA’s annual groundwater conference, along with other offerings, have provided policy-makers, practitioners, researchers, and educators the opportunity to learn about the current policies, regulations, and technical challenges affecting the use and management of groundwater in California. This year’s conference will focus on key aspects of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA), and a wide range of water quality issues.

This two-day conference features a plenary session with leading representatives from key state agencies, concurrent sessions on a range of highly relevant topics, presentations by GRA’s 2016 David Keith Todd Distinguished Lecturers, a President’s Reception with poster presentations, the Collegiate Colloquium, exhibitor booths, and a final general assembly on next steps to manage groundwater sustainability.

Many dual-track technical sessions will cover a broad range of groundwater issues facing the State and innovative ways to address them. These issues and related topics include SGMA – legal/policy, planning, and technical challenges; surface-water/groundwater interaction; groundwater contamination issues, including cleanup approaches, remediation technologies and site assessments; advances in modeling and visualization, and groundwater replenishment.

Don’t miss the Collegiate Colloquium, which showcases the often cutting-edge science being conducted by California’s university students, and the poster session, which includes a wide variety of interesting and innovative work by students and professionals alike.

Please also take the opportunity to visit the exhibitors who help make events like this possible, and who work with groundwater practitioners to help advance the science.

We hope you enjoy the conference and the modern features offered, including the ability to text questions for speakers, and the interactive program accessible on your smart phone or tablet!

The Groundwater Resources Association of California (GRA) was formed in 1992 to promote resource management that protects and improves groundwater supply and quality through education and technical leadership. To help fulfill its mission, GRA organizes monthly GRACast Web Seminars covering issues relevant to consultants, environmental scientists, environmental engineers, project managers, drilling contractors, regulators, attorneys, and anyone else concerned with groundwater.

For those who missed the live event or attendees who would like to refresh their knowledge, the GRACast recordings are available for purchase and viewing through the GRACast Store. The typical GRACast is 90 minutes long and consists of a 5 minute introduction, 60 minutes of presentation by one to four speakers, and 25 minutes of questions and answers. Many GRACasts are organized as part of a series designed to provide more comprehensive topic coverage than is possible with a single GRACast. Purchasing Complete Series Bundles provides you with a $25 discount per GRACast.

GRA Members – Members receive a $25 discount per GRACast.

Student Members – GRACasts are available at no charge to student members of GRA

Professors – GRACasts are available at no charge for teaching purposes only.

Use the Contact page within the GRACast Store to request access for your institution.

NOTES

25YEARS!

GRA was established 25 years ago in response to ongoing discussions in California’s groundwater community which indicated the need for a statewide organization to address the unique concerns and interests of groundwater professionals

working in our diverse state.

Today we are an organization of ~1,000 members throughout the state of California. We have six branches with another in development. There are now 15 all-volunteer Directors whose vision and leadership guide the organization, along with the unrelenting hard work of the 12 committees where so much of our work is done. The vision and foresight of the four

Founding Directors; Vicki Kretsinger Grabert, Anthony Saracino, Paul Dorey and Tony Ward brought GRA to life and their determination to meet the needs of the groundwater industry lives on through the hard work of GRA’s volunteers to this day.

What can GRA become in the next 25 years? We’re always looking for volunteers to bring new ideas, innovation and

improvement. Stop by the GRA Booth in the Exhibit Hall for more information on signing up for membership, committees and other volunteer opportunities.
