Open Carnival Entry Trends

8

o Overall Open entries dropped 15% from last season after having recovered to 2010/11 numbers last year.

o Queenscliff Open Carnival needs urgent attention to reverse negative trend.

SNB 2015-2016 Carnival Participation & Experience Trends

Expected reversal of trend for Australia Day carnivals, with Interstate moving to Victoria – worst numbers ever for Manly since 2010/2011

Queenscliff Carnival numbers continue sharp decline

New events static or showing growth in numbers

Boat Carnival Entry Trends

9

o Boat entries continue to decline across most events o North Curly carnival was a one off hit with participants but numbers were never going to be big o Overall 44% decline since 2010/11 season (2,012 competitors) & 13% (399 competitors) since last

season, further impacted by cancellation of Premiership Round 4 o Boat Panel need to continue to work on reversing this decline

Junior Carnival Entry Trends

10

o Nippers overall have declined 10% (131) since 2010/11 and 2% this season compared to last season o Manly Nipper NATs numbers significantly increased mostly due to event now open to all Nipper age

groups i.e. U9 to U14 o Queenscliff Beach Carnival was again well received, and other craft only carnivals were also steady

with competitor numbers – this looks to be the future ? o 3 main Junior events declining – even Newport saw decline in its second year o Junior Branch numbers have also declined, potentially due to weather affecting timetable
