BIOGRAPHIESJonathan CharlesJonathan Charles is the Managing Director of the Communications department at the EBRD and is a member of the Bank’s Executive Committee.Jonathan came to the Bank in 2011 after a long and distinguished career at the BBC, winning several awards for his journalism. As a BBC presenter and foreign correspondent, he has appeared on BBC1 and BBC World News television, as well as the BBC’s main radio channels.His specialist areas include economics, Russia, the EU and international diplomacy; he has a keen interest in issues surrounding the single currency.He established television operations for the BBC in Brussels and Frankfurt, and operated in many conflictzonesthroughouttheworld.HeholdsanMA(Oxon)andBAinPolitics,PhilosophyandEconomics from Oriel College, Oxford University.

Andras SimorAndrásSimorwasappointedVicePresidentandChiefFinancialOfficerinOctober2014.He joined the EBRD on 1 July 2013 as Vice President, Policy.HeisresponsibleforTreasuryOperations,LoanSyndications,LocalCurrencyandCapitalMarket Development, Financial Strategy, Business Planning and Budget, and Control and Reporting. He is a member of EBRD’s Executive Committee the Operations Committee.Before joining the EBRD, Mr Simor was Governor of the National Bank of Hungary from 2007 to 2013.From1999to2007,hewasChairmanandOfficeManagingPartneratDeloitteHungary and a member of the Board of Directors for Deloitte Central Europe. Prior to this, he was non-executive Chairman of the Board of the Budapest Stock Exchange, from 1998 to 2002. He was Chairman of the Managing Board of CAIB Investment Bank A.G., Vienna, 1997 to 1998 and Chairman and CEO of Creditanstalt Securities from 1989 to 1997.Mr Simor was named ‘Central Banker of the Year for Emerging Europe’ by Euromoney EmergingMarketsMagazinein2010and‘Oneofthetop50BusinessExecutivesinEurope’ by Business Week Europe in 2001.Currently Mr Simor is Chairman of the Board of the Budapest Festival Orchestra. He has alsoservedasChairmanoftheEconomicCounciloftheFerencLisztMusicAcademyinBudapest from 2006 to 2010. He graduated from the Karl Marx University of Economics Budapestin1976,wherehespecialisedininternationalfinance.

Alain PillouxAlain Pilloux is the Managing Director for Industry, Commerce, and Agribusiness for the entire EBRD region and is also responsible for the relationship with the European Investment Bank.Mr Pilloux joined the EBRD in June 1992 and has occupied various senior management positions over the years.From 2006 to 2009, he was Managing Director in charge of Russia, Agribusiness and PropertyandTourismandfromJanuary2010,wasappointedManagingDirectorforIndustry, Commerce, and Agribusiness.MrPillouxstartedhiscareerasDirectorofthePrivateOfficeoftheRegionalGovernor fortheLimousinregionin1985andworkedfrom1987to1992attheInspectionGénéraledes Finances in Paris, the department of the French Finance Ministry responsible for conducting strategic audits in the public sector upon request of the Finance Minister.Alain Pilloux is an alumnus of the Ecole des Hautes Etudes Commerciales, the Cavalry School of Saumur, the Paris Institute of Political Sciences, and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration.

BIOGRAPHIESRoland HarwoodRoland Harwood is Co-founder and Managing Partner at 100%Open, the global open innovation agency that works with the likes of LEGO, P&G, Oxfam and Governments around the world to co-innovatewiththeirpartners.Itwasaspin-outfromNESTAin2010,theUKInnovationAgencyandInvestment Fund, where he was Director of Open Innovation. He is also Founding Partner of a new agency called Better Ventures that builds participatory businesses, launching soon.Graduating with a PhD in Physics from Edinburgh University, he has held senior innovation roles in the public and private sector. In addition, he has worked with hundreds of start-ups to raise venture capitalandcommercialisetechnology.RolandisakeenpianoplayerandhasproducedTVandfilmmusic for SonyBMG. Professor Birgitte AndersenAs CEO and CoCreator of the Big Innovation Centre in 2011, Professor Birgitte Andersen is leading theCentreasaLondonbasedopeninnovationandinvestmenthubofadozenglobalcompaniesandworld-classuniversitiestore-balanceandgrowtheglobaleconomy.Thefocusisonbuildingdigitalplatforms and corporate ventures in the areas of markets for intellectual property (IP), entrepreneurial finance,bigdata,openinnovationcorporatelabs,andinnovativebusinessmodels.During the dot.com boom, Birgitte launched and ran (2000 to 2010) probably one of London’s biggest interdisciplinary postgraduate programmes on E-Commerce and Business Innovation at University of London (Birkbeck College), where she holds the title Professor of Economics and Management of Innovation. His related research focuses on business model innovation, entrepreneurship, social innovation and innovation communities. Aldo saw the potential to transform the insurance industry from the convergence of mobile technologies, large scale data mining and psychology applied to driver behaviour.
