2017-2018 CHAPTER VOLUNTEER EXCELLENCE NOMINEE

Nominee: Aaron Cooper

Nominee’s Company: Brown Smith Wallace

Chapter: Show-Me

Standards that were met by Nominee: Demonstrated an effective way to increase Chapter membership, Demonstrated an effective way to increase Chapter meeting attendance, Demonstrated exceptional volunteer spirit, Provided exceptional leadership to a task, process or meeting, Performed 'above and beyond' the requirements of their position

Additional details to support Nomination: Aaron has done an outstanding job leading the initiative to expand the area of coverage for the Chapter. Re-naming the St. Louis Chapter to the Show Me Chapter to include the central part of the state will pull in a significant amount of carriers and should strengthen the chapter as a whole. Aaron has made this happen while still planning both the Show Me Chapter and Central States Regional Chapter meetings. His positive attitude and leadership skills has proven to be a big part of keeping everyone engaged and on track as we work towards holding our summer and fall meetings.

The Indiana Chapter has increased its membership and interest over the last 3 years when the chapter had been dying off. Local meetings are held at a Company location and thus there are no meeting space costs allowing the chapter to pass down a decrease in cost to attend the meetings and additional interest in reviving the chapter. Brian is always enthusiastic and willing to give it his all in volunteering for IASA.

2017-2018 CHAPTER VOLUNTEER EXCELLENCE NOMINEE

Nominee: Chad Stein

Nominee’s Company: Travelers

Chapter: Land O Lakes

Standards that were met by Nominee: Provided exceptional leadership to a task, process or meeting, Devised a more efficient way to perform a Chapter function

Additional details to support Nomination: Chad is currently the President of the Land O Lakes Chapter.

He has notably improved the process for which we plan and implement events for the Land O Lakes chapter. For example, he sends out an agenda prior to chapter planning conference calls and sends out an email after the calls to summarize what was discussed and identify responsibilities. This has enhanced accountability for the officers and the program committee members who plan chapter events.

He has also been an active participant on the quarterly chapter officer conference calls by sharing the chapter's experience and inquiring about what other chapters do.

During his term as president, he set goals to enhance social media presence and transfer the banking relationship from the chapter to National. Both of these goals have been attained and will provide the chapter the opportunity to increase attendance and enhance efficiencies.

Chad has utilized his collaboration skills by tapping into the chapter's past president's experiences and encouraging new ideas from new board members and program committee members.

With Chad's contributions, the Land O Lakes Chapter has become more efficient and more inclusive.

Nominated by: Tip Tipton

This past December 2017, the regional realized attendance of about 130 with a well reviewed panel of presenters. Cheri took on the thankless task of coordinating speaker presentations, chasing and collecting speaker slides and bios. She also was responsible for coordinating the preparation and printing of programs which included session materials and information on all the vendors, speakers, and sponsors.

2017-2018 CHAPTER VOLUNTEER EXCELLENCE NOMINEE

Nominee: Dennis Loveridge

Nominee’s Company: State Farm Insurance Company

Chapter: Central Illinois Chapter

Standards that were met by Nominee: Central States Regional Conference, Demonstrated exceptional volunteer spirit, Provided exceptional leadership to a task, process or meeting, Performed 'above and beyond' the requirements of their position

Additional details to support Nomination: I had the opportunity to get to know Dennis fairly well, when planning the 2017 Central States Regional Conference. As President of the host Chapter, the ultimate responsibility for the conference fell upon his shoulders.

While Dennis allocated the responsibilities, he had an interest in every detail and approached every situation in a positive manner. Through all the ups and downs inherent in the planning process, he maintained a dependably calm and collected manner. He was extremely approachable and very open to considering various ideas and opinions. Frankly, there were some challenges. Hurricane Irma turned northward, targeting the Eastern seaboard and casting doubt on our Keynote speaker’s ability to reach Central Illinois from South Carolina. Her potential absence was communicated on Sunday, as the Conference setup was already underway and people were starting to arrive! The Keynote was scheduled for Monday at 8:00am! Dennis was calm and, as always, optimistic. And, he was right. We all survived Hurricane Irma!

Dennis didn’t always play it safe. He swung for the fences. Since the prior year’s Conference had a great panel discussion of high-level executives, Dennis thought that having TWO panel discussions of high-level executives would be even greater! (quite frankly, corralling that many high-level executives and keeping them on the same page was a bit like herding cats, but Dennis was on it!) He was always appreciative of the hard work put in by so many others. Dennis shared all the glory and yet accepted responsibility for anything that was less than expected.

And thanks to the comfortable profitability of our Regional Conference, our combined Chapters have been able to increase our annual contribution to the IASA Scholarship Fund!

It was a real pleasure to volunteer with Dennis Loveridge.

Please note that I am with the Indiana Chapter, so my accolades are limited to only one responsibility held by Dennis, as President of the Central Illinois Chapter. I continue to be impressed and very grateful for our good fortune in having such wonderful IASA volunteers.

2017-2018 CHAPTER VOLUNTEER EXCELLENCE NOMINEE

Nominee’s Company: ITS Data Services

She has an excellent working knowledge of the various chapter functions and was a guide and mentor to me and still is in helping me progress. 2017-2018 CHAPTER VOLUNTEER EXCELLENCE NOMINEE

Nominee: Jeff Mleziva

Nominee’s Company: Deloitte & Touche

Chapter: Metro NY/NJ

Standards that were met by Nominee: Demonstrated exceptional volunteer spirit, Provided exceptional leadership to a task, process or meeting, Performed 'above and beyond' the requirements of their position

Additional details to support Nomination: Jeff only recently started with the Metro NY/NJ Chapter in the past six months. Immediately, he showed interest in being a very active part of the chapter. While only a Board Member at Large, Jeff wanted to take the lead on setting up a new venue for our upcoming golf outing and seminar. The idea was floated to hold the event at Top Golf, a golf entertainment center, rather than a traditional golf course. He jumped into action and contacted the venue to get pricing and logistics. Within days, Jeff presented to the rest of the Board a good idea of how the event would work at the location and what the prices would be. He's been very responsive to getting answers to the questions about the event and ultimately got the contract finalized and signed quickly. Without Jeff's efforts, we would have never gotten this new idea off the ground so quickly, if at all. It's obvious after such a short time that Jeff's spirit and volunteerism is the type that's needed to take our chapter to the next level. I'm looking forward to continuing to work with him and to see what other new ideas he'll help to launch!

2017-2018 CHAPTER VOLUNTEER EXCELLENCE NOMINEE

Nominee: Jerry Ravi

Nominee’s Company: EisnerAmper

Chapter: Metro NY/NJ

Standards that were met by Nominee: Demonstrated exceptional volunteer spirit, Provided exceptional leadership to a task, process or meeting

Additional details to support Nomination: Jerry has been the president of the Metro NY/NJ chapter for 3 years - a year longer than typical for our chapter. He stepped up because there was no one else available to take the helm that had not already held the position. Even though he is a partner at his accounting firm, he still finds the time to organize our meetings and keep us on track. He cares deeply about the quality of our meetings and does everything he can to help us get the sponsorships we need or to organize and moderate a session when we need a session moderator, and basically does whatever it takes to helps us be successful. He has been a dedicated and enthusiastic member of the Chapter, and will not be one that 'drops out of sight' after doing his stint as president. Jerry has been nominated in the past for this award (and come very close to winning), and definitely deserves the recognition.

Kelly has the fun job of trying to herd a group of volunteers who are new to this process and who are trying to get through year end reporting. I appreciate Kelly taking a step up and doing all she can to support this launch.

Nominee: Rachel Perlmutter

Nominee’s Company: Johnson Lambert

Standards that were met by Nominee: Demonstrated an effective way to increase Chapter meeting attendance, Demonstrated exceptional volunteer spirit, Provided exceptional leadership to a task, process or meeting, Performed 'above and beyond' the requirements of their position

Additional details to support Nomination: Rachel is a senior manager at Johnson Lambert specializing in audits of insurance companies. She consistently attended both local meetings of the Sunshine Chapter and the National Educational Meetings. In 2014, Rachel was elected to the board of the Sunshine Chapter. In that role she took charge of all aspects of our semi annual meetings. She consistently found new speakers including economists, motivational speakers, attorneys and even arranged to have members of the FBI speak to our Chapter about cyber security. Rachel was really was the glue that kept the SUnshine chapter running. But her most important contribution was doing the heavy lifting in arranging November's All-Florida IASA conference. The National Organization has for years wanted to explore having a centralized meeting with the goal of either revitalizing the dormant South Florida and Tampa chapters or creating an annual, centralized meeting. As you know, this meeting was a huge hit. The speakers were knowledgeable and relevant to the issues facing Florida insurers. The venue was great. Rachel participated on nearly every call, coordinated the hotel, found speakers, and most importantly made it happen.

Rachel is a very enthusiastic IASA member. She is likely to continue to become an even greater asset to the Organization. I am proud to nominate Rachel.

Thank you
