• Mapping will be a work product for any projects with data systems

• Work that redefines or combines data elements shall attempt to align with CEDS data elements as closely as practicable

• To the degree practical any new data elements shall be aligned with CEDS.

• Goal is to move from level 2-3 adoption

MAPPING IN THE ALIGN TOOL• Vendor has mapped our SLDS in Excel, we

have imported into our EA tool and awaiting ability to load that into the Alignment tool.

• Current Maps Published

– UID Mapping

– Directory System

• State Department of Early Learning has published a map

Page 10: Agenda

DIFFERENCE IN DATA CONTEXT WHEN MAPPING

• We have built in context into severalof our data fields, but CEDS has not.

Page 11: Agenda

DIFFERENCE IN DATA CONTEXT WHEN MAPPING

• Consequences

– We need to be creative when mapping our data to CEDS.

– We need to set standards for how to map to CEDS (i.e. which elements between the two models to map and which alignment options to select in the CEDS Alignment tool)

– Always enter comments.  They help the reader understand any differences between the two models.

Page 12: Agenda

LOOKING FORWARD

• Implement the policy we have adopted.

• Looking to map some of our transactional systems

– Grant funding to assist mapping would be great.

• Future Maps

– ESD – Head Start and ECAP system programs

– Foster Care Data

• Looking forward to EDFacts as part of the connect tool.
