Students will learn about important people from the Northern Renaissance including Gutenberg and Shakespeare. LO Students will read the section “Northern Renaissance” and take notes in a storyboard format.

9. Printing Press:• Invention that allowed faster copying & printing of
words & pictures; helped spread Renaissance ideas much faster than they could before
press
10. Christian Humanism
• A combination of Christian and Humanist ideas. Studied the history of Christianity (not Greece and Rome).
• Desiderius Erasmus wrote a book criticizing some Churchpractices. Called for Church reform.
11. Realism
Style of art that attempts to make things look like they would in real life. In the Northern Renaissance people were painted to look real with physical flaws. They painted scenes from daily life.
12. William Shakespeare:(1564-1615) One of the greatest English writers of the Renaissance. Comedies & tragedies about human emotions (humanism). Wrote Romeo and Juliet.
