After the great flood that happened in Kerala in2018 August, Salesian sisters of 11 communities
from Kerala and Karnataka along with other NGOs, hundreds of students, Jesus youth and volun-
teers set out to relief camps. the houses. The houses were filled with garbage, mud and also
some poisonous creatures like snakes, scorpions and even dead animals.

Salesian sisters from 11 communities and volunteers along with the other NGOs continued to work around the clock across Kerala. When the sisters arrived to the flood affected areas, they realized what had to be done for an immediate relief. The sisters gathered necessary materials and distributed to the families.
In the month of October 2018, Sr. Celine Jacob, the Provincial, Sr. Sally Abraham, the Economer and Sr. Rosy Lopez, Director, CDEW Society Bangalore visited the flood affected places in Trisur, Angamaly, Puthupally, Kattappana and Kanakakunnu. Together with the local communi-ties, sisters visited severely affected areas and families in the surrounding villages to study fur-ther what can be done They also distributed household articles.

Together with all the beneficiaries, CDEW would like to thank all who helped us, in bringing relief to the most needy people. We are continuing our work of repairing and construction of houses of the flood affected families.
