Do you see yourself here? Expert for Asia at a major bank.

Study without borders – with the AFS scholarship for the Bachelor’s de-gree programme Intercultural Management and Communication at Karlshochschule International University.

AFS These three letters stand for the long history of the “American Field Service” – an organisation that started as volunteer medical service during the World Wars and has become an institution that stands for intercultural exchange and understanding.

Within 60 years AFS has become the largest provider of exchange programmes worldwide. So far more than 400,000 youths and host families have participated in an exchange in more than 50 countries and have taken the chance to better understand another culture.

The goal of AFS has been the same since its formation in 1948: giving young people the opportunity to get to know another culture and therefore advocating toleran-ce. Pursuing this goal, AFS has found a strong partner in Karlshochschule International University and together they offer the scholarship.

The Degree Programme

How do you show an Arabian businessman your appreciation? And

how do you avoid a faux pas at a business meeting in Shanghai?

Every culture has its own rules. You can feel it while doing business

in an increasingly globalised world.

Welcome to a small village called Earth. If you would like to be

successful in business or to mediate between people from different

cultures, it is not enough to have good managerial qualities. The

key factor for success is a profound understanding of your business

partner’s cultural background.

In our Bachelor’s degree programme “Intercultural Management

and Communication” you can acquire this sense and understan-

ding. It is for this reason the degree programme deals with aspects

such as anthropology and economic geography, alongside the

fundamental business modules.

From the third semester the modules are predominantly taught in

English and the students are required to learn another language e.g.

Chinese or Arabic.

The “Intercultural Management and Communication“ degree

programme offers a broad range of career opportunities on the in-

ternational market: whether you become an Asia expert of a banking

institution, a change manager or human resources manager of a

global corporation or are employed at an embassy or an international

organisation.

Look forward to a degree programme that transcends borders and

broadens your horizon.
