    As an ENERGY STAR Partner, we have determinedthat this machine model meets the ENERGY STAR

    Guidelines for energy efficiency.

    The ENERGY STAR Guidelines intend to establish an international energy-saving system fordeveloping and introducing energy-efficient office equipment to deal with environmental is-sues, such as global warming.

    When a product meets the ENERGY STAR Guidelines for energy efficiency, the Partner shallplace the ENERGY STAR logo onto the machine model.

    This product was designed to reduce the environmental impact associated _ith office equip-ment by means of energy-saving features such as Low-po_ er mode.

    Low Power modeThis product automatically lowers its power consumption i minute after fin-ishing the last copy or print job. Fax reception and printing is still possible inLow Power mode, but to make copies, you have to press the operation switchfirst.For details about how to change the interval between last job and Low Powermode, see p.31 "Energy Saver Timer".

    Off mode (Copier only)To conserve energy, this product automatically turns off i minute after finish-ing the last copy or print job. In this manual, the Off mode is called the AutoOff mode.For details about how to change the interval between last job and Auto Offmode, see p.31 "Auto Off Timer".

    Sleep mode (Fax, printer, or scanner installed)If there is a fax, printer, or scanner unit installed, this product automaticallylowers its power consumption even further 1 minute after finishing the lastcopy or print job. Fax reception and printing is still possible in Sleep mode,but to make copies, you have to press the operation switch first.For details about how to change the interval between last job and Sleep mode,see p.31 "Auto Off Timer".

    The machine returns automatically to its initial condition when the job is fin-ished, after a certain period of time has elapsed. This function is called "SystemReset".

    Multi-Access

    You can carry out another job using a different function while the current job isbeing performed. Performing multiple functions simultaneously like this iscalled "Multi-accessing".

    This allows you to handle jobs efficiently, regardless of how the machine is beingused. For example:

    You can make copies while receiving fax data.

    While printing, you can make operations for copying.

    Note

    See p.28 "Print Priority" for setting function priority. As default, [Displaymode] is set to first priority.

    After a specified period has passed, following job completion, the machineautomatically turns off, in order to conserve energy. This function is called"Auto Off".The machine status after the Auto Off operation is referred to as "Off mode",or "Sleep mode". For the Auto Off Timer, specify the time to elapse beforeAuto Off.
