About Afghan Wireless
Recently, the company teamed with Google to offer complimentary SMS (short message service), or texting, through the use of Gmail’s chat function. Individuals need only create a Gmail account to send free SMS messages to any user in Afghanistan. Once logged in, individuals can simply enter the wireless number as the chat recipient and the user will receive the message as a text directly to his or her phone.

Individuals begin each day with a credit of 50 free messages to send to users in Afghanistan. For each reply that a user sends to the Gmail account, that account receives five additional credits for further free messaging. Sending an SMS message to the Gmail account costs only 2.5 Afs. With this service, Afghan Wireless aims to make communication as easy as possible for individuals with friends and family living in Afghanistan. The service also allows individuals without cellular phones to participate in text conversations.
