• Priesthood of all Believers: – The belief that one is in charge of their own

salvation

Political

• People felt justified to questions authority

• Freedom from the Pope

Social

• Equality of all Man in God’s eyes– Peasants Revolt

• Freedom from the Fear of Death

Economic

• Freedom from the Church’s Taxes

• Spreading of wealth around Western Civilization

Religious

• Freedom from the Church and the Clergy

• Creation of new religions

• Freedom from Fear of Damnation by the church

The Reformation Spreads

• As Luther’s ideas spread they encourage new ideas on Government, Religion, Culture etc…

• However, One of the most important affects of Luther is the new found freedom of Kings to gain absolute power

The English Reformation

• King Henry VIII will push the Church out of England and make himself the new head of the Church OF England

• Eventually protestant ideals will take a strong hold in England

• One of the most powerful Countries in Europe is now Protestant
