WHO ARE WE? AFC!Welcome to Annerley Football Club

Elder Oval Update with Micky Fast Football Facts (World Cup)We are extremely fortunate to havesome fantastic volunteers who dedicateso much of their time to make AnnerleyFC the great club it is. Joe Wood waslucky enough to catch up with one suchlegend, the great Mick Totidis. Here’show it transpired...

Argentina's retired football player DiegoMaradona has his own religion made by hisfans. In 2013, football player Cristiano Ronaldoopened a museum dedicated to himself.

Micky, you’re a cult hero around these parts, but for those whodon’t know you, would you mind sharing your Annerley storywith us, including your current role at the club?I came across from AC Carina a few years ago to meet up with mymate, Rob Monteverde. In my time here, I’ve coached a couple ofMen’s City league teams, a few juniors squads and manned the oddbarbie or two. My main role at the moment is doing generalmaintenance around the club - bit of a jack of all trades really.

Well the place looks in great condition! What projects went on here during the off season? We were busy laying down turf on both the main and junior fields and with some help I hand concreted the path from the change rooms to the pitch and made a block for the grand stands. Some benches were put up on Barnsdale Place hill and we also put up thefence behind the goal. The clubhouse got a new lick of paint as well.

Fantastic. Can you fill us in on some of the projects that are planned for this season? Well, we’ve just put up the new blue nets for the goals and are planning to do some work on the dug-outs. The media tower is up for Pauly TV to film from; and we're hoping to negotiate an electronic scoreboard.

Brilliant! Anything else you want to say? Yeah, can you add a big thank you to Rob Monteverde? No.

Men's City League 2

Annerley F.C. VS Mt Gravatt

6:30PM

Coach: Danny Power

I'm glad to have my head coaching hat on again thisyear, after spending the last two seasons as anassistant coach with the Capital 1 squad. We have anew and exciting squad in City this year. The coreplaying group have stepped up from the successful City5 side of previous years, and are complemented bysome new players who have joined from other clubs orgraduated from junior football. We've had a generallypositive start to the season. Our two wins, one draw

and an unfortunate loss sees us sitting in 3rd position on the ladder.

This week we are playing Mt Gravatt who, while currently sitting in 8thplace, are a strong team and have performed well in this league in previousyears. We will be missing some key players, due to holidays, injury andpromotion, but we are lucky to have solid depth throughout our squad andI'm confident that we will give a strong showing on Friday night.

Coach's Corner! with Danny Power

Previous Men's Results...Last week City 2 and 3 recorded wins, with victories 4-3 and 3-0 against Newmarket andMitchelton. On Friday night, the Capital 1 and Reserves teams both drew with SouthsideEagles, 1-1 and and 2-2 respectively. Unfortunately the City 1 and City 4 went down 3-0and 4-1 at the hands of Logan Lightning and UQ.

Women's City League 1

Annerley F.C. VS Taringa Rovers

4:00PM

Line Up

Coach: Michael Fahey

We have had a rough trot over the pastfew weeks, with a washout thendropping points with two losses in arow. Especially in games we would havewon if we'd taken our chances.

We are going to have to be at our best Saturday as we takeon top of the table Taringa and get back to our winningways. We have a couple of players back who have beenmissing, so look to be at full strength, which is pleasing.

Coach's Corner! with Michael Fahey

Previous Women's Results...Our BWPL team recorded its second consecutive victory with asolid 2-1 win in front of a hostile crowd at Mitchelton. The City 1team were the better side, but unfortunately went down 2-0 toMitchelton. The City 4 and City 5 teams had convincing winsbeating Mitchelton and UQFC 4-1, and 5-2 respectively.
