DO’S & DON’TSFOR MATERIAL STORAGE

Store in a clean and dry area, and away from access to open areas. Protect with waterproof covers, if left in the open.

Maintain a clear gap of at least 30cm between the sheet packet and ground. If material is not required for immediate use, stack them neatly off the ground.

Don’t keep heavy material on stacked sheets. This can damage the surface of the sheets.

Don’t place sheets vertically without proper support.

Store in maximum stacks of four to allow easy handling and storage.

Keep a gap of at least 10cm between two packets.

Don’t keep sheets directly on the ground or in a damp area.

Don’t let the surface get wet.

Inspect the storage site regularly to ensure that moisture has not affected the stock.

Maintain a minimum slope of 5 (1:10) during stacking so that if rain penetrates the covering, water will drain away and not form a water pond.

Don’t store products of different profiles together. Instead, store similar profiles together with due consideration to width and length.

If stacked or bundled product becomes wet, separate it without delay. Wipe it with a clean cloth and stack it to dry thoroughly.

Place the sheet gently to ensure that it is not damaged.

Don’t slide sheets over rough surfaces or over each other. Don’t drag tools; always carry them.

Don’t use metal chains for lifting sheets.

Ensure that you place the sheet on the ground, and not on other materials, while cutting. This is to keep the finish of the sheet safe from falling hot particles. Always remove the guard film from the sheet before installation.

Position the groove portion on the inner side. This will ensure that the air gap on the left does not let water travel upwards.

Paint all structural members (such as tubes, HSS, angles and channels) except zinc-coated ones before fixing the sheets. Use neutral cure silicone rubber sealants.

Clean the roof with clear water or mild detergent. Use a soft cloth, mop or nylon bristle brush to avoid swarf stains and rust.

Don’t position the groove portion on the outer side. Improper contacts make the roof susceptible to water leakages.

Don’t leave metal articles on the roof. Don’t throw bird feed on the roof as bird droppings can damage the look of the sheets.

Don’t use acetic acid-based sealants, abrasive/ solvent type cleansers or harsh products to clean the sheet as it softens the paint film.

DO’S & DON’TSFOR INSTALLATION

Always use recommended protective gear (high visibility vests, eyewear, helmet, hand gloves & soft-soled shoes) while handling & installing the sheets.

Don’t keep colour coated sheets near cement, dirt and chemicals like paint and thinner.

Don’t install sheets on the roof during the rains as they will get wet and slippery.

Use a power saw with a metal-cutting blade to cut thin metals. This leaves less resultant burr and nimbler hot metal particles as compared to a carborundum disc.

Don’t use stainless steel screws, J-hook and bitumen washers as they may damage the sheet.

Place Everest roof screws through the crests. Screws can be crest or valley-fixed for walling. Utilise Everest screws/ fasteners with Everest EPDM rubber sealing washers.

Don’t overdrive or under drive the screw as it can cause water leakage or washer damage.

Don’t walk on the single rib, sheet, end laps, gutter and skylight sheets.

Keep your weight evenly distributed over the soles of both feet to keep from concentrating your weight on either heels or toes. Keep the feet on purlin position.
