Summary: 

The Database Administrator (DBA) will mainly provide support ofTransamerica Life Canada database systems (Microsoft SQLServer and IBM DB2). This includes database management,problem analysis, installation, upgrade implementation. Overallplanning and applying new features and technology for databasesystems and managing future growth. Strong forward thinkingtechnical skill and team coordination and skills are mandatory toensure the on time delivery of various initiatives and tasks 

Responsibilities: 

• Provide professional customer service to support the businessand IT which includes contributing to the improvement of crossfunctional communication and team synergies • Proactively monitor database system health and Capacity,maintaining database system effectively and efficiently foroptimized performance, support database applications • Leadership in providing future database technology and databasemanagement tools • Identifies opportunities for improving existing processes andnew solutions. Builds and documents process improvements andsolutions. • “Energize The Base” in an efficient and effective mannerincluding all assigned incidents and problems are responded toand resolved. • Compliance/Regulatory and Governance ­ Participate in all

regulatory initiatives (SOX, ISAP, DRP). 

Experience: 

• Post Secondary degree – Computer Science or equivalent workexperience • 3­5+ years of experience within Information Technology indesigning, deploying and administering MS SQL databasemanagement system • Working experience with Solaris and Windows platform • Database Administration experience with IBM DB2 LUW is a plus • Knowledge of virtualization, NetApp storage management fordatabase application • Knowledge of disaster recovery planning for databasemanagement system. • Knowledge of database application systems in financial industry • Prefer experience with DB2 and MS SQL system integration,basic skill for data extraction, transformation and loading.
