MERANO: THE FIRST SECTION OF THE NORTH WEST CITY BYPASS, ONE OF THE LARGEST AR-CHITECTURAL WORKS IN THE DISTRICT, HAS BEEN OPENED TO TRAFFIC.

THE PROJECT

The city bypass mostly runs underground: the only access to the surface road network is located under the city’s railway station. Once completed, the project will be organized on three levels:• On the surface (Via IV Novembre );• 7 meters deep (with a roundabout leading to the train station or to Lagundo) ;• 17 meters deep (with the continuation of the tunnel towards Passiria valley ) .This third stretch is part of the second batch of the works that are currently in the planning stage. The investment, that will significantly contribute to improve the traffic flow in Burgraviato, has also been done to safeguard the green wedge between Merano and Lagun-do: an example of good sense allowing to solve technical problems by giving priority to the protection of the environ-ment.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

From the technical point of view the tunnel is featured by several changes of section, 3 entrances, 2 junctions and a roundabout located underground. The complexity of the conditions (the reduced height of the tunnel and the almost obligatory positioning of the devices) required a careful lighting calculation.AEC proposed the series of TLED projectors (featured by a wide range of optics and different sizes) and the TABLED module.

INSTALLED LUMINAIRES

• 108 TABLED modules (on the roundabout).• 96 TLED TA 4.5-36 (permanent lighting and ramps).• 40 TLED TA 4.5-54 (ramps lighting).• 32 TLED 6M 1F AS 4.7-54 (entrance/exit zone lighting).• 2 TLED 6M 1F AS 4.7-36 (entrance/exit zone lighting).• 4 TLED 1F AS 6M 4.7-18 (entrance/exit zone lighting).• 3 TLED 1F AS 6M 4.7-9 (entrance/exit zone lighting).
