Background

Oregon School for the Blind was closed in2009 after 136 years of service

State law promised "enhanced" servicesfor students and budgeted nearly

$3,000.000.

Students were promised improvedservices in the expanded curriculum

Broken Promises Efforts to promote services werethwarted

Promised services were notimplemented and the $3,000,000was taken away

Those working to get additionalservices were reprimanded andterminated

How We Came To Be

Advocates for Blind Children was startedby retired educators in Oregon

Determined to be advocates for blindchildren and their families

Initially funded with proceeds fromlawsuit settlement

ABC successfully led and continues to

lead efforts to provide services for blindchildren

50 year old foundation accepts Fiscalsponsorship: OralHull.org

Oral Hull provides recreational andeducational opportunities for blindindividuals
