• Focus in class and don’t let yourself become distracted• Ask you teacher when you don’t understand something• Don’t distract other pupils • Deliberately practice (again and again) • Self quiz to become fluent in the subject knowledge required• Accept that it will take effort and time• If you don’t ’get’ something be specific about what aspect is the
issue• Complete homework, if none has been set, go over classwork
and complete independent work (ask your teacher for support here too).

Your revision folder is must be submitted to the HeadteacherMonday 4th November for review by the Senior Leadership Team.
• Please include your work record sheet• If you are submitting flash cards make sure they are secure so
they do not get lost or fall out. • Folder should contain a minimum of 32 hours work at this point

Careers Advice and Guidance : Mrs C Roberts -Careers Lead
Year 10 Parents Information Evening
Our aim is to prepare you for future success by providing a
comprehensive programme of careers advice, information and
guidance that is structured and delivered by a range of individuals
with the right skills and experience.
This is so you can make wise choices in preparation for education,
employment or training and ultimately choose right career.
Co-ordinated external support from the Careers and Enterprise
Company and local Enterprise Hub, Career Connect and Elevate,
“the Educational Business Partnership”, as well as, an appropriately
skilled and experienced team in school, are all working together in
providing a high standard of guidance to you.
Year 10 Parents Information Evening
Careers Advice and Guidance in Year 10 includes:
• Individual CIAG Interview with independent advisor from Career
Connect – Karen Gallagher
• Taught Work Inspiration programme to prepare pupils for
compulsory work experience placement of one week
• Employer talks from a range of fields (in the past has included:
Graham Construction, Merseyside Police, The Army, Sovini Group and many more)
• Employability Interviews
• Networking event/Careers Fair

Work Experience In year 10 we will work with you and your families to provide a good
quality, meaningful encounter with the world of work through a
compulsory week-long Work Experience placement which will take
place during the Spring Term (February)
Preparation for this starts week of 16th September:-
• 6 sessions of preparation : these take place during selected core PE
lessons: you are notified when you must attend.
• Forms and agreement letters will be sent home early in the term
• Try to find a self-placement so start thinking about this now.
• We can work with you to secure a placement but you must give us as
much information as possible about what might interest you.

programme starts.
