Homes & Land How – To – Guide: Text Codes 12/13/2012

Advertisers: How to Use Text Codes in Your Magazine Ads This how-‐to-‐guide provides instructions for incorporating text codes in your magazine ad using Online AdMaker (OAM).
How to apply text codes in Online AdMaker When you create a new ad folder, you have the option to apply text codes to your new ad.
The option to add text codes must be selected when a folder is created. When the option is chosen, a text code is applied to each listing as it is added to the OAM ad folder. If you elect to apply text codes to a folder you can turn the feature off/on for an individual listing.
When you choose to use text codes, OAM displays the code that will be inserted into the ad for each listing’s caption and/or inset text. However, text codes are not editable in OAM. This prevents the possibility of accidentally altering a code.
You can use both a text code and custom inset text as long as the maximum number of characters (set by your local Publisher) is not exceeded.
Example: Just Listed! TEXT: T123456.

Adding instructions for consumers to your magazine Tech savvy consumers will already know that they need two pieces of information to send a text message: the text message itself, and the phone number (or, in this case, short code) of the recipient.
When you use the Online AdMaker text code feature in your ad, you will automatically provide the text message (text codes) in your caption and/or inset text. You’ll also need to provide the short code that Homes & Land has set up to receive & process these messages, which is 81035.
Be sure to have your ad designer incorporate ad design elements that include instructions explaining how consumers can use this new feature, such as:
“Send Text Codes to 81035 for more information”.
See the example ad below for sample text codes and consumer instructions.
