1. Increase awareness of the importance of forest-water relationships and their contextual nature.
2. Provide guidance on appropriate indicators and methodologies.
3. Mainstream water considerations in forest activities.
4. Close knowledge gaps, particularly for areas and forest types were data is insufficient or lacking.
5. Improve national forest monitoring systems and establish global picture.
