Does the short term reality of “On time and On Budget” require a rethink to avoid long term Owner Operator operational losses?

Line of Sight: Design for TOTEX
• A fundamental error and unfortunate truth is that most organizations have viewed the Asset start of life either at or after commissioning.
– Line of sight lost.
• To realize maximum asset value organizations are front loading the need for increased reliability into the design phase of the asset lifecycle.
– This is design for TOTEX.
• Whole Life Asset Management fundamental of both;
ISO 55000 and PAS 1192: BIM.
• TOTEX really starts on the designers desk and continues until end of asset life.
• RCM/RCD has been globally accepted and standardized as the tool of choice for organizations that wish to Zero base their maintenance program.

Can we answer this question today?
How can we answer this question (and get the answer in seconds)?:
“highlight in my 3D or Reality model all the components that are currently being worked on, that show pitting problems, where these components were recently inspected and cross reference those with all the functional failures in the last 6 months and were modified in the last year”

Ok. So how do I get there?
16 | WWW.BENTLEY.COM | © 2018 Bentley Systems, Incorporated
Steps towards CONNECTED Environment
• Start by understanding and modeling the business (not the databases)
• Adopt appropriate industry standards and best practices
• Understand your configuration management requirements
• See where the software fits in
• Determine enabling technologies and practices that help your business
17 | WWW.BENTLEY.COM | © 2018 Bentley Systems, Incorporated
• Relate structured and unstructured information to people, teams, and organizations
• Focus on how the information is related to the relationships
• Record conditions, incidents, events, and corrective actions
• Capture, track, facilitate, and transmit changes
• Create auditable reports of when, how, and why information changed
