    Advance Reservation Through Internet (www.irctc.co.in)

    INDIAN RAILWAY CATERING & TOURISMCORPORATION LTD., (IRCTC LTD) a PSU ofMinistry of Railways have developed a system foradvance booking of Rail tickets throughInternet. The Web site for online booking is www.irctc.co.in The site is Veri Sign secured. Bookingprocedures are simple and user friendly.

    Service Charges for I-tickets:

    Service charge of Rs. 40 per ticket in lower classand Rs. 60 per ticket in upper class (maximum 6passengers per ticket) is leviable in addition to thetrain fare.

    Tickets will be delivered at the customers addressthrough courier at no extra cost other than mentionedabove.

    Customer should register in the above site to booktickets and for all reservations/time table relatedenquiries Registration is free.

    Before registration, customers should go through theTerms and Conditions which are available in the website.

    Customer is allowed to register only one user ID withcorrect details.

    Full fare tickets including Tatkal, Child tickets and ticketsfor senior citizens at conecessional rates can alonebooked through the website. Internet tickets can be bookedfor journey between any two stations on the route of thetrain including originating station and destination.

    A maximum of 10 tickets can be booked in a month byan individual.

    When the ticket is successfully booked, an e-mail will besent to the customer detailing the PNR, ticket status, farecharged etc. In the case of RAC /waitlisted tickets,subsequent alerts regarding the latest position are alsosent through e-mail periodically.

    Service Charge for E-ticket:

    Service charge of Rs. 10/- for Second/Sleeper Class and Rs.

    20/- in case of all other higher classes (1AC, 2AC, 3AC, CC,3E, FC) per e-ticket irrespective of the number of passengers(maximum six) booked on an e-ticket.

    Payment for booking E-tickets:

    Payment can be made by using all Master/Visa / Amexcards. A service charge of upto 1.8% is charged by mostof the Payment Gateways.

    Account holders of major banks viz. State Bank of India,PNB, Indian Bank, ICICI, HDFC, etc. can also use NetBanking / Debit Cards facility for making payments for

    tickets booked through internet.Customers can also use various Cash Cards for makingpayments.

    In E-ticketing scheme, passengers get their reservationbooked through internet while sitting at home and occupytheir reserved seat on the basis of Electronic Reservationslip (ERS) taken out from their own computer or SMS sent byIRCTC/Railways along with the original Identity Card.

    E-Tickets can now be booked using mobile phone alsothrough IRCTC mobile website www.irctc.co.in/mobile.

    Procedure of Booking E-TicketCustomer should register in the above site to book ticketsand for all reservations/time table related enquires.Registration is free.

    Before registration, customer should go through theTerms and Conditions which are available in thewebsite.

    If for any reason, the finaloutput of the booking is notdisplayed in the screen,customer should check in the

    menu History of tickets bookedin the home page beforeattempting again.

    During the journey even if anyone of the passenger bookedon an e-ticket presents any of the Identity Cards mentionedbelow in original, the same is accepted as proof of identity(For Tatkal ticket same Identity card is to be presented during

    journey which was mentioned at the time of booking of tickets) :

    Voter Photo identity card issued by Election Commissionof India.

    Passport.

    PAN Card issued by Income Tax Department.

    Driving Licence issued by RTO.

    Photo identity card having serial number issued by Central/ State Government.

    Student Identity Card with photograph issued byrecognized School/ College for their students.

    Nationalised Bank Passbook with photograph.

    Credit Cards issued by Banks with laminated photograph.

    Unique Identification Card Aadhaar

    It will be the responsibility of the passenger carrying anyoneproof of identifications mentioned above that the other

    passengers booked on the e-tickets are bonafide passengersand are not travelling on someone elses name. If none of thepassengers is carrying anyone proof of Identity as mentionedabove, all the passengers will be treated as travelling withoutticket and shall be charged accordingly. If the passengers failto carry the Electronic Reservation Slip (ERS)/SMS sent byIRCTC containing journey details, a penalty of Rs. 50/- will beimposed.

    Timings for Internet Reservation

    Tickets on Internet can be booked from 00:30 hrs to 23:30 hrson all days.

    1. Cancellation and Refund of E- Tickets

    The electronic reservation slip cannot be cancelled atany regular counter of the Railways. The electronicreservation slip can only be cancelled online.

    A. Cancellation Before Charting

    The passenger can cancel the E- Ticket before chartingby logging in his User ID and password on the irctc.co.in.

    Cancellation is not possible through any other User IDand password. Upon cancellation of ticket, IRCTC willprocess the refund electronically and credit the amountin same account which was used at the time of bookingof tickets.

    B. Cancellation After Charting

    1. For confirmed Tickets

    The passengers will have to make an online requestthrough filing TDR. The claim will be processed by ZonalRailways Claims Offices by Train Chart verification, TrainRunning information etc., available with them and decideadmissibility of refund. On receipt from Railways, IRCTCwill refund the amount electronically to the passengersaccount. The passenger is not required to approach anyrailway counter for the purpose of cancellation.

    2. Fully Wait Listed Tickets:

    a. Fully waitlisted tickets are those tickets in which on onePNR, all the passengers are on waitlist. Such PNRs aredropped from the reservation charts at the time of

    preparation of Final Train Charts and refund is creditedto customer account automatically.

    b. Such passengers are not required to send online requestfor cancellation. IRCTC will cancel such tickets after dueverification and process refunds electronically.

    c. On a PNR which has all the passengers on waiting list atthe time of charting, the name of such waitlistedpassengers will not appear in the charts and suchpassengers, if found travelling, will be treated asunauthorized and charged accordingly. However, on aPNR which has some passengers confirmed or RACstatus and some on waiting list, all the names includingthose on waiting list will appear in chart.

    3. Part confirm/RAC/Waiting List

    a. If on one PNR there is more than one passenger and atleast one passenger is having confirmed/RAC status andrests are on waiting list, names of all the passengersbooked on such PNR will appear in the chart.

    b. A certificate can be obtained from the Ticket Checkingstaff in the train regarding non-travelling of wait-listedpassengers on such tickets and refund can be obtainedthereafter by sending online TDR request. Such requestwill be processed by Zonal Railway Claims Offices.

    c. If all such passengers do not want to travel before chartpreparation, online cancellation can be done as atpresent. However, after chart preparation, online requestcan be filed through TDR. Zonal Railways Claims Officeswill process TDRs by verification from Train ReservationCharts and decide admissibility of refund amount. IRCTCwill arrange the refund to customers account on receiptfrom Railways as per extant refund rules.
