Sand tray is an integral part of the play room that allows children to work together with the
therapist to uncover past hurts and traumas within a soothing, therapeutic medium that many
clinicians are finding to be a wonderful therapeutic intervention to help clients explore deeper
presenting problems: anger, rage, trauma, depression, abuse, and grief/loss issues.
However, many counselors find themselves wondering what the next step is after the initial
intervention. This workshop goes deeper into the theoretical orientations and foundations for
sand tray work, allowing counselors to integrate assessment and diagnostic experiences as
an advanced training workshop.
Sand tray techniques help the client voice the unspeakable and express the inexpressible,
through play. Enter a safe, supportive world of miniatures, metaphors, and the collective
unconscious in order to help your clients move past their layers of trauma and pain and
access paths to healing and recovery through play. This seminar will enable the counselor
with assessment, diagnoses, and treatment planning as we go to the next level.
