Advanced Gearbox Development
The Problem:Current dynamic component test systems unable to accommodate more than a single type of transmission. Manualpositioning and configuration changes are limited and cumbersome.
The RedViking Solution:Custom designed gearbox and actuator assembly to automatically apply thrust loads to transmission, as well as torqueresistance or rotational load with automated position and configuration changes. New system tests multiple types oftransmissions.
Advanced Gearbox Development
The customers current powertrain test system did not accommodate the geometries, loads and speeds for their expandingtesting requirements. RedViking worked with the customer to design a custom gearbox and actuator assembly toaccommodate multiple transmissions at different interface angles through the use of fixed and dynamic gearbox sections.
The new patent pending design allowed the test system to accommodate multiple types of main transmissions withautomatic adjustment to the specific test article.
Smaller OTS motors, identical to those used for the test stand inputs, were integrated rather than using one large, moreexpensive custom motor. The resulting 5X speed increasing gearbox and actuator assembly accommodates a wide range oftorque and speed set points and includes automatic test article connection and test profile identification.

Integrated gearbox condition monitoring instrumentation vibration, temperature, fluid level
Automatic connection and integrated actuators allow for automatic torque and thrust calibration using acalibration fixture
Designed for 20,000+hours of service
Custom designed, ground gears with performance enhancing micro geometry and isotropic superfinish
