Course Overview
The Advanced Course in Quantity Surveying has been designed to provide you with advancedknowledge and understanding of quantity surveying techniques and practice including disputeresolution, project management and value and risk management.
This course enables you to have an advanced understanding of the fundamental activities whichcomprise quantity surveying.
What you will learn?
This course will provide a clear understanding of:
the strategic and administrative procedures involved in the procurement of construction work -from the viewpoints of both client and contractor
the principal skills required by surveyors working in the construction industry
the relationship between time, cost and quality in the construction procurement process andthe alternative procurement routes available
management and administration of construction contracts
how to identify and explain the role of the various participants in your own domestic
construction industryoptions available for the procurement of construction work
controlling time, cost and quality on a construction project
measurement and estimating
contract administration - the legal basis for controlling construction projects

Eligibility criteria
To participate in this course you can be a graduate, graduate equivalent or diploma holder.
Candidates undertaking this course are required to have the knowledge and understanding ofthe fundamentals of the valuation process, which is covered in the Foundation course inQuantity Surveying.

Administration process
Duration - 6 month (24 week) course covering 200 hours of study undertaken through E-Learningaccess to course content and materials that guide you through the facilities management process.
Mode of study All of your learning materials are accessible through the Online Academy, RICSTrainings E-Learning platform. Before the start of the course, you will receive an email, which willprovide information on how to access the Online Academy along with details of your username andpassword.
Examination/Evaluation - You will be assessed through an online examination hosted by the RICSOnline Academy. The online examination will take place at the end of the 6 month course and you willneed to acquire the requisite minimum score to successfully complete the course.
Candidates who fail to meet the requisite minimum score on their first attempt will have the
opportunity to re-sit the online examination. The number of re-sits is restricted to one (1) percandidate.
An interview may be required to authenticate your online examination result.
Certificate of completion - Upon successful completion of the course, a certificate will be awarded toyou by RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors).
Dates and fee
Course start date: 24 June 2013Course fee:795 + VAT (RICS Member) / 895 + VAT (Non Member)
The course content and materials will be made available from 10 June 2013.
