Title: Advance Skills for Project Management Profession

The training will focus on developing advance skills in the participants that are need of the

project management profession. This training will enable participants to deliver project effectively

while ensuring all the stakeholders are in-line with the project happening.

Itll focus on the tools available for project management domain and will enable participants

to use it effectively for their day to day interaction with stakeholders.

After the completion of training, students are required to prepare a project. Guidelines will be

provided by the instructor during the training sessions.

y Project management toolso Focusing on the available tools to facilitate project management practices. Itll also focus

on comparison of the tools.

o For example, Microsoft Project, Primavera, and open source project management toolsy Project management practices

o Focusing on the available project management standards used widely across the world.A comparison will enable participants to choose the right standard for project managers

o For example, OPM 3, Prince 2y Data collection and data presentation in project management

o Focusing on the data collection methods, tools along with data analysis / presentationfor determining troubled areas of projects and planning effective actions to resolve

those.

o For example, SPSS tooly Managing high impact projects

o In organization, different projects carry different value and thus needs differentattention. This module will help identifying high impact projects and will enable

participants to develop skills to manage high impact projects.

y Techniques for handling delays in projectso Delays in projects are very common challenge. As per survey, more than 50% projects

are delayed. This module will focus on identifying delays proactively and take necessary

actions as per industry standard & recognized practices.

y Managing projects spread across boundarieso This module will focus on project management techniques that are essential for

managing projects that involves stake holders / project teams that reside across

multiple countries.

y Managing virtual teams in projecto This module will focus on team management skills and techniques that are essential for

managing team that is spread over different countries and cultures.

y Effectively utilizing project management tools for key project skillso Negotiating in projects

This module will focus on identifying convincing facts from project throughavailable tools. These facts will then be presented in a way to negotiate

effectively.

o Presenting project facts This module will focus on enabling project managers to develop key skills of

collecting different facts and presenting them in the most effective manner to

the stake holders.

o Industry knowledge This module will enable project managers to learn the skills of developing

industry knowledge of the relevant projects and then apply that knowledge to

deliver a successful project that is beneficial for the underlying organization /

institute.

Training Method:

The training cannot cover all the tools / methodologies mentioned. However, to give a practicalknowledge to the participants, following tools / methodologies will be used in training:

1. Microsoft Project (tool for project management activities)2. Regression (through Microsoft Excel or SPSS) to perform data quality analysis3. Microsoft office for preparing & delivering necessary reports / presentations4. Team activities to reinforce and sharpen the skills mentioned in this training5. Case studies to understand industry problems and discuss their effective solutions

Project:

Students will be required to prepare a one page project proposal which should be submitted forapproval before the training is over. Student will be given a framework on which he would complete

his project. This project will be evaluated for final grading.
